Review of the all New 2016 Yamaha 242X E-Series Wake Sports jet boat

@Julian, stop the fooling around and just post when you expect to get delivery...:winkingthumbsup"

How about an @IWish function ? But not before you get @beer working....

Love the new features but also think they should have added super chargers and more fuel capacity. The bottom line for me is that at $70k +, "I can't afford it."

These should drive down the price of the 2015's leftover. Hopefully my local dealer will be stuck with one!

And if they stock market keeps doing what its doing, there might be a lot of 2016's sitting on lots next summer, especially the 242X at $72k.

interesting comments about the bottom color. I wonder what a matte black, rather than gloss gelcoat color bottom would be like. May be the best of both worlds, but not as pretty either.

I think a matt color would encourage growth on the bottom and make it harder to clean....although I think bottom paint is matt....so maybe not. People like shiny boats....not sure matt would be popular.

Heres the test!

Well, since the lottery balls didn't fall in my favor last night I'm stuck with my old barge....but I did get the email from Boattest.com this morning and I was looking over the specs on the new flagship. And I mean SHIP - that sucker is heavy - now I don't know what the previous 24' boats weigh, so it might not be that much of a difference. But 4,032 lbs. with capacity for 12 persons or 2,698 lbs. PLUS 1400 lbs of wake ballast makes for one heck of a displacement!
Over 4 TONS fully loaded!!

Did anyone else chuckle after doing that math and then reading that it has Three position ''No Wake Mode'' Control ? WTF ?? o_O

I like the Eyetalian steering wheel though. How much does that cost? Maybe it will make mine feel like a new boat

Bottom paint is a matt finish but it contains high levels of copper that prevent growth. With that said, I have never seen a matt finish on a boat.

Just a quick update on the E Series boats, they will not be shipping until sometime in September, I hope to have my first one in mid Sept and will be shooting plenty of videos.

Pfffffffffffffttttttttttt...... there goes the air out of that balloon...:banghead::rolleyes:

Think calling it a wake boat is a stretch. At that price point it should have a surf "system". While you could go spend money for mods and the time consuming external ballast and wedge, it defeats the purpose of buying an alleged wake boat.

Actually the bimini is collapsable. I didn't get a chance to collapse it when I was on the boat, but there are pins you can pull to collapse it and the tower. Let me see what I can post about that....

It collapses in 2 places.
First the actual bimini releases from the main structure and allows the back to fall down.
Then the main structure pivots froward from the boat.

Does the X have a fresh water shower? Did they improve on the stern wet locker storage piano hinges?
No fresh water shower on the X. Fresh water tank removed for Starboard ballast.

Is the hull specs the same as the 2015? Same as my 2012? Dead rise, freeboard etc?
No mention of any changes in trailer design? Torsion axles?
How much of an up charge for galvanized?
My understanding was that in '15 the added 6 inches in length and freeboard on the 242's.
