I rarely buy new guns. I'm always looking at Texas Gun Trader for a good deal. If I see something I like I'll meet up with the seller and buy their gun. Best part is no sales tax is paid. I've gotten some great deals most of the times the seller will just throw in a bunch of ammo.

For the hunters following the thread. . . . . is it me, or is this thing a death wish?

That is funny! I guess if you are on a closed privatley owned ranch that you own and no one else is within thousands of yards........I might wear it. But, I would need to do some serious internal reflection as to the lengths I am willing to go to out smart and incredibly dumb creature!!

Wow. Just seems like a bad idea, even if it works. Nope!

I am seriously wondering if it is meant to be satire. . . . . . No one can be that stupid, can they?

Unfortunately there is never a shortage of stupid , so yes this will sell and I'll never be a buyer !

Oh man! That just seems like a bad idea :)

I was always wondering why that deer head I have mounted on my wall has a Seattle Seahawks cap on.:angelic:

Just stupid...I would never put that on, its a death wish. Even on a 500 acre farm that is posted, I allow people I trust and who ask to harvest deer and give permission to hunt but plenty of others see the signs and think "must be good hunting then" and come right thru. Not for me, but maybe bow season if you are wearing chainmail long johns. I will stay in the tree stand, its a double wide with full enclosure and does not look like the prey.

It might be more effective if we're a does backside :)

So as long as we're talking about it... ;)

I'd love to take my 1911 to the In-Laws in MI (I live in WI) for some target shooting when we visit them for New Years but I don't know if that's legal. Does MI still have a mandatory registry? What do out-of-town folds do? Just don't bring it? (I don't have a CCW right now but plan to get one.) How about long guns? (.22 rifle)

Of course, to get from point A to point B I'd be traveling on the Interstate through Illinois (can avoid Chicago City Limits by taking 294) and Indiana.

If someone could point me to where I could find the answer to this I'd appreciate it. I've been out of the "gun world" for a while (and never had to deal with this interstate stuff in the first place).

I'm more interested in finding a reliable source than being "told" the answer. Much easier to site chapter and verse to the Officer than to tell him you're working off of information you got from a person you know on the internet... :cool:

I have no desire to just "chance it" either. With my luck I'd get hit in the rear by someone at a stop light and my pistol case would be the first thing to come flying out of the back of my vehicle. I don't want to go shooting so badly that I'm O.K. with hearing the sound of silver bracelets closing around my wrists.
@biglar155. This may give you a little guidance. https://www.nraila.org/articles/20150101/guide-to-the-interstate-transportation Basically, keep your guns unloaded, inaccessible, and preferably broken down for transport. Unless you're speeding, drinking and doing drugs you shouldn't have any problems.

Back on point...I just picked up this S&W 9mm last week. I went in to a Massachusetts gun shop fully licensed with Fed pin# and required form filled out online. It took 15 min for them to run a background check and I was out of there.

@biglar155 - This is a good resource as well. http://www.usacarry.com/concealed_carry_permit_reciprocity_maps.html

This is of course for those with cc permits but you can find what you are looking for here as well. I have a Maine cc permit right now. I will get a SC cc permit when I move next year and will maintain my Maine cc permit as a part year resident. I will have most of the US covered between the two. I hardly ever CC but it helps ensure I will never get jammed up with weapons in the car/truck.

Whatever you do; forget about even driving through DC with guns in the car at all. A purple heart receipient tank commander getting treated at Walter Reed and volunteering to head back into the fray overseas for a 3rd time found out the hard way on that one. http://m.washingtontimes.com/news/2012/may/14/dc-grabs-guns-from-soldier/

Awesome. Thanks.

I'm really thinking that the CCW will cover my rear - or at least help my case if there ever is one.

Guess it's time to go get 'er done.

@Big Shasta

We put another 300 rounds through our Ruger MK III yesterday for a total of 1K rounds now with 4 different brands of ammo. We've only had 3 misfires, all with Winchester ammo (of a total of 350 rounds of Winchester), each time the cartridge had a mark where the firing pin struck it but it did not fire, I think this is more the ammo than the gun.

We're very happy with it so far,

@Big Shasta

concerning your Ruger Mark III mis feeds,
have you considered either the magazine bushing or loaded chamber indicator replacement?
While looking for some accessories for ours I saw this that had very good reviews about improving performance, it would probably be worth it vs. sending it back to ruger

https://www.amazon.com/Hammer-Bushing-Magazine-Disconnect-fits/dp/B008GSOBTY/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1484857123&sr=8-1&keywords=ruger+mark+22/45
I ditched the loaded chamber indicator completely as I heard it could help. It didn't. I'll look into the mag bushing...thanks.
