My son got chosen to to participate in the 80th D-day re-enactment on LST 393 in Muskegon Michigan which is 1 of 2 LST's that are left that were on Omaha Beach for D-Day..
He was asked to portray one of very few US marines that participated in the invasion as the Joint Chiefs of Staff deemed that the ETO would be fought with US Army personnel. Only about 700 US Marines with various divisions were involved. Mitch is part of the King Company 3rd Battalion 2nd Marine division as a BAR Gunner. Can't wait to see the pics of the event.

Got some pics and video from this weekends LST 80th Anniversary D-Day re-enactment on LST 393
You can hear the BAR "thumping" as the plane crosses the mast on the LST

And these pics. Kudos on the pilots flashing their landing lights as showing guns attacking the LST

Took some time off from our Prairie dog hunt to ring some steel at 750 and 1000 yards
My son and I both hit the 750yd target with 223 wylde and 224 Valkyrie and at the 1000yd target, the 6.5 creedmore was dead on.
If you zoom in, you can see the red circle from where we were shooting from

Wow ! what type of scope were you using ?
was it factory ammo or hand loaded ?
anything special about the guns or were they factory ?
what was the wind doing ?

The Savage 110 High Country in 6.5CM is using a Vortex Viper PST II 5x25x50. Factory rifle with a MDT brake and harris bipod.
Factory Hornady 140 ELD M bullets. Wind was 7-8 mph coming from our left shoulder (8 oclock ish)

The 224 Valkyrie is a Seekings Precision with a 20" Faxom match barrel, timney Calvin trigger, MDT comp brake, Crypic BCG and Aero precision charging handle, and some magpul furniture along with MDT forend weights. Optic is Vortex Strike Eagle 5x25x56
Factory Hornady 60gr Vmax

The 223 Wylde is a Ruger lower with a Aero precision 18" upper, SJC muzzle brakes, MDC forend weights and some magpul furniture. Opitc is Vortex Srike Eagle 5x25x56.
Factory 62gr Nosler Varmageddon ammo.

Sadly, the ground was wet from the rain we had earlier and you couldn't see the misses from the lighter 224 Val and 223 Wylde, so it was pointless to try shooting it.

The biggest thing in my mind was getting the guns to the range and using a chrono to get your avg speed at the muzzle. Then you can create a very accurate DOPE card using Hornady's Ballistic calculator. Input all your variables and then dial up your scope for elevation and hold over for windage.
