I met with a client yesterday morning who is a hospitalist at a small local hospital. He said they went from 5 covid patients to 22 admitted in just a couple of weeks. Most of them 40 years old and under. It seems like the new wave is hitting younger people harder. Maybe because the older population are the ones who are primarily getting vaccinated? Or maybe the delta variant is more like the Spanish flu, and is more harmful to younger people?
Seems my anecdotal evidence that it hits younger people is panning out (we have 3 dead in our company in India - ages 26, 36 and 41, and one relative of an employee age 31). None had known underlying conditions.

I believe I mentioned this before. Yes. Much younger patients now. 30s, 40s. Some of them dying. All of them non vaccinated.

I forget now. I removed that number from my mind. I think I may have mentioned that as well in one of my older posts. But yes, some of the really sick people have had it before. It was one of my arguments of why vaccine immunity was better than immunity from getting the thing.

My wife went to her yearly gyno exam today. She was advised by her ob-gyn to not get the vaccine if she plans to have kids, further strengthening our reasoning for not getting it.
My wife is an OB/GYN.
Sounds like it's time yours sought out another doc.
One that preferably keeps up with all the latest journals and peer reviews and recommendations.
See Julian's post. He pretty much covers all the major bases...

Experienced similar volume of covid patient admissions. Census went from 46 to 64 in 24 hrs. With bed holds in ED. There are a lot of logistical parts to be aware of. Supplies, staffing, each hospital affecting others with patient diversions due to being over capacity. Wait times up to 24 hrs or more. It’s time the public realizes they have a direct impact on the status of acute care especially during this pandemic.

My wife tested positive today. (She is fully vaccinated Pfizer) confirms my theories that she gave it to me as she had symptoms for about 3 days and then felt better before I had any at all. My county health department called me earlier for contact tracing and said that the majority of their breakthrough cases were vaccinated with the Pfizer vaccine. But I guess that's not abnormal since they vaccinated the most people by a lot I would assume. Anyways I am bored out of my damn mind on the 4th day staying in the house ...lol.

Hope you and your wife recover soon. To Quarantine is just as stimulating as watching paint dry. Be glad you got the vaccine. You may not realize it but I have seen the unvaxed hit harder and faster with illness compared to the vaccinated. recognizing the need to seek medical treatment is key. It’s dangerous to assume having the vaccine and having covid does not mean you don’t need to treat it and it will eventually go away. Just the opposite. Early medical intervention will greatly reduce a possible hospitalization.

A bunch of us tested positive (large group of friends), we had two people that lived with others that tested positive, and hung out with us for COVID-Giving. They tested multiple times and were always negative. I think either A. Increased alcohol consumption kills the virus (they drink the most of the group) or B. Some people are 100% immune.
Alcohol consumption doesn't do anything. Think of all the lifelong drunks that were killed by Covid in Italy, Spain, England the first go around. Their death rates were among the worst seen.

I'm not vaccinated, but she is. My symptoms have been very mild so far. Tomorrow will be day 5

Quarantine is your best strategy. Reduce as much contagion as possible In order for your body to fight virus. Glad your symptoms are minimal. Sounds like your wife did not wait too long to see DR. Makes all the difference.

Emcrit.org is a great resource of what we learned from the massive mortality rates in Europe.

This is the husband of one of my 38yo ICU patient. She died today. Non vaccinated.

He wants people to see this

Thanks, I shared in several places.

I hope and pray for peace and comfort for this family.

Has anyone been following blood type with severity of infection?? 3 of my friends that ended up in the hospital with bacterial pneumonia during covid infection all were A+ blood type. Im AB+ and while a 9 day fever was no fun I didint have any lung issues or that persistent cough. Im hoping the medical community is tracking blood types with all these sever cases

Anyone have any idea how long until the FDA approves the vaccines? I’m not talking about emergency use but the general stamp of FDA approval kind of thing.

My daughter is about to start school and she is 11 so she is not of age to be vaccinated yet. Even if she were the wife and I flip back and forth if we want to get the shot for our daughter. There are just a lot of unknowns about the long term effects and if any reproductive harm that could come from it wayyy down the road. Wife and I both took the jabs months ago but we are both a little hesitant to do this for our daughter when the mortality of this doesn’t seem to affect children near as bad as adults.

We did virtual learning last year as we felt that was the best thing to do at the time. Wife and I aren’t working from home anymore and we also feel that children need to grow up with other children for a strong social foundation so she will be physically back in school this year. We are a little apprehensive but feel it’s best for them. I just tell her to stay safe, keep a little distance and wash hands often. Crossing fingers no issues as we start back school in a few weeks as a 6th grader.
