As a West Coast resident I’m curious because the media is still reporting that things are not yet “back to normal” while showing footage of long lines and empty signs on pumps at gas stations on the East Coast. It’s no secret that boats consume a lot of fuel compared to road going vehicles but I cannot recall one post here about this. Was no one here impacted or is nobody here posting about it?

There were long lines at the pump here in the Louisville, KY area on the day the attack was announced. TONS of fear/panic buying of fuel. I waited it out and got fuel the next morning without a line. Pretty much business as normal now. Zero impact to boating for myself, or anyone else I know locally with a boat.

As an aside, we get most of our fuel by barge up the Ohio river, and other means. We, in general, are NOT connected to the pipeline. We're close, and people are dumb (arguably poorly informed), which is what led to the panic buying.

We had total panic here in Virginia Beach with very long lines for gas and most stations running out...lucky for me, I had a full tank in the truck and 30 gallons in the boat so we went boating!

Nothing here in the northern Midwest. Just a surge of people being crazy and filling up everything for a couple days, then after that nothing. Gas prices are going up though consistently.

My boat was full....so no issue.....

I had passed by a few gas stations that were out last Wednesday . But I found some to fill the car up. Didn't have to go out of my way.
No big deal. All back to "normal" now.

We had some lines and idiots draining pumps due to panicking. Even though local stations were getting trucks every day. Local station near me was getting 3-4 trucks a day and yet people were still somehow draining them. I had no issue getting gas for my truck and boat last weekend. Today everything is back to normal everywhere I've been. Gas prices are still stupid high from where they were just a few weeks ago.

I'm in NC where 70+% of stations were out. When a station did get a tanker refill in the morning, it had lines around the block and they were out again in the afternoon. We weren't trying to get out on the boat last weekend, but I'm sure some who wanted to couldn't because they couldn't find the gas if they needed it. It's getting significantly easier to find gas now, but there are still some stations that are out. Fortunately, it's not a problem for me right now--I'm topped off with a full 36 gallons in the truck and a full 70 gallons in the boat.

Didn't affect us in most of FL - we get most of our gas through Port of Tampa.

panic buying here on Monday and Tuesday. ZERO gas. by Saturday I filled up with no issues.

It was only crazy for a couple of days. I don’t think it affected anyone majorly

Sounds a lot like the great tp shortage of 2020… inmates running loose in the asylum.

And contrary to what the fear mongering media would have you believe the pipeline is BTN, and other parallel pipe lines are moving product as well. The problem is FEAR False Evidence Appearing Real, and the FOMO’s running and depleting supplies.. like tp.

The next time a pipeline project gets cancelled remember this incident. The product is going to move, its just how it is going to move. If not by pipeline it will via rail or truck. Hopefully this is a good wake up call to people, but, that’s just my wishful thinking.. as soon as there are no lines people will go back to watching their favorite national sports team or NCIS, and all will be forgotten until the next ”crisis”.

Georgia had a lot of panic buying. Docks had gas, but getting to marina 30 minutes away and passing by 10 gas stations without any gas does make one hesitant. I worked through that. Many stations still don't there are a few with good supply. GasBuddy helps.

On a more serious note, did you guys hear that there may be a shortage of Chick-fil-A sauce?

I was in the liquor store today and there was a sign about a Miller Lite shortage.

DUDE! Now that's some bullshit. They'll only give you one sauce per person. Gas shortage, meh. Chick fila sauce shortage.....OMG that's something the gov't should get behind and fix ASAP. We get chick fila once a week in our house.

I was out on my boat monday. It was full, but the station at the ramp had fuel anyway. Fuel seem easily found in most places. Friday was sketchy but that was it.
It did slow things at my dealership for the last half of last week.
