@Ronnie If you want to see something really fast check out the White Zombie. It is a 1972 Datsun that does 0-60 in 1.8 seconds and a 10.2 quarter mile. It is all electric putting out the equivalent of over 500hp and 1200 ft*lb of instant torque. I believe it is actually the worlds fastest street legal 0-60 car period.

What is really cool is that the guy that built this uses it as his daily driver. He will drive to the track, blow everyone away, and then run some errands on his way home. There are some videos of him smoking Corvettes but I didn't want to dampen your feelings for your beautiful new baby. Your car is beautiful and looks a lots faster than the White Zombie.

@soggyshoes , that was very cool. Great tutorial on torque and comparisons to convention sports cars. I've seen the latest reviews of the new tesla p85d smoking porches and Ferraris but the tesla is a modern car developed over years by a deep pocket corporation with many employees (I will proudly add that the plant is just the next city over from me, not that it matters at $100k plus I'd never own one). How was this guy able to develop / refine this technology on his own? Shouldn't he be filthy rich or is he?

Pretty KEWL ........... Not large enuff fer our beloved jet boats .........

John Wayland is definitely not rich. He has been working on electric cars for at around 30 years. He is a legend in electric cars and gets most of his materials donated. What is really cool about John is that his passion is for electric cars and not his own glory. He will share every bit of knowledge he has. He would happily tell you how to build a car that is faster than the White Zombie. I know people who have built electric cars and John has been nothing but supportive for them. He is starting a a company with an investor in Texas to build really high end, limited edition, electric Muscle cars ( http://www.zombie222.com/ ) but he still will tell someone who wants to do it them selves exactly how. @Ronnie in a few years you and your son's next big project could be to convert your Corvette into an electric rocket! :winkingthumbsup"

Here is one more of the White Zombie and one of the Electric Mustang Fastback they are building as Bloodsport Motors:

@Speedling here is something to put in your new garage! ;)

Ya know, when the prius first came out, my buddy and I looked at buying one that was smashed, but then we both decided it was gonna be too much work. We were going to see how it worked, and see if we could vary the amount of voltage it dumped out at a time. If you could remove all restrictions and let the motor just haul butt, I bet that prius would be pretty quick.
But those mustangs sure are some sexy cars man!

I don't know that it would work too well on a boat, just due to the fact that it would weight a lot to have the battery, and you would have a huge trade off in distance you could travel as well.
I'd hate to do the Starved rock to Peoria trip and then have to open up a solar charger to try and get some juice back into the batteries, lol!

This is not new, but if you love Fishing, and boats, it's always funny !
Hoping you enjoy ! Have FUN - Mikey Lulejian - Lake Oconee, GA

One of my all time favorites! Been a few times I wish I had something like this on my boat for a couple of guests! :devilhorns:

Here are a couple of pictures of my folks all electric Porsche 944. It took 2nd place in this auto show. It has about a 80 mile range and is a lot faster than a stock 944. You really only use 2nd and 3rd gear. I think they did it all including buying the car, a complete tear-down and repaint, updated brakes and suspension for around $30k.
@Ronnie your son did a pretty good job with the Jet Ski. Time to move on to the next level! @Speedling this would be a lot sexier than a Prius!

@soggyshoes , you have me seriously thinking about converting the vette to electric. Truth be told I'm not in love with it but my son is, I was thinking about selling it after this summer but maybe I will hold on to it for my son and I to work on together even if it was electric I doubt i could afford to insure him on it when he gets his license at 16.
Short range would be fine but it seems like a lot of car for 16 year old's first car. At least this vehicle is not older than him.

How to peel those eggs fast and easy....

How to peel those eggs fast and easy....

Good timing with all the easter eggs we have to eat! Actually we made jello eggs and the kids decorated paper eggs and paper cut out bunnies.

@Ronnie the beauty of an electric car is that you can program the engine to be anything you want. Because of the instant torque and ramp up speed of an electric motor you can hook the controller up to a computer and create exactly the power-band, torque, redline, and probably top speed that you want. I believe some of the controllers have multiple options so your son can be driving a very efficient Corvette that seems to have a small 4-banger in it and then you can drive the same car that will perform like it has a LS9 engine in it. Win win!

I'm thinking exciter test project- Anyone else? Buy a 135 and put electronic motor and battery in it?
Not in my cards for at least 5 years

Hey ! Here's a GREAT way to start off Monday. It'll give ya sumptin' to think about all week !

Italian Auction - only 44 seconds!
You don't have to understand Italian to follow the auctioneer:
A Chinese Ming Vase is up for auction. The bidding opens at a half-million Euros.
Bidding is brisk and each bidder is clearly identified as each raises the bid by 100,000 Euros. (The exchange rate at auction time was 1 Euro = $1.43.) Within seconds, the bid stalls at one million Euros, and the gasp from the crowd identifies the excitement that prevails in the room. The successful bidder is the last one who bid one million , and the auctioneer counts down the bid, "Going once, going twice, and sold to the gentleman sitting in front of me for one million Euros."
Now, you are going to have to see the video for yourself. The auctioneer is exuberant. The pace is fast. This is how an auction should be run.
Please note the excitement on the auctioneer's face after the final bid !

Enjoy - And Happy Springtime to you ! - Mikey Lulejian - Lake Oconee, GA
