I've been working in Spain for several weeks. Up to Thursday everything was pretty normal in Seville. Last night was relatively quiet for a Friday night. Today, the streets are empty and most businesses decided to close. I'm supposed to fly out tomorrow, hoping the airline doesn't bail...

Most will let you change flights for no fee now.

There governor announced yesterday that all schools are on mandatory shutdown for 2 weeks in Utah and all gatherings of 100 or more should be avoided.

Same run on grocery/box stores here as everywhere else. Although my mother-in-law ventured to Costco in the afternoon and had no trouble. I don't think she went for the toilet paper.

As of yesterday there were 5 confirmed cases in our state. My mother is a RN at a Utah County hospital. They're considering rescheduling outpatient surgeries to keep space on their floor for treating flu cases. They have several negative pressure rooms designed for these types of cases.

My wife and I are self employed in the construction and online retail (Transom Watersports). It's business as usual for us. With the exception of some delays in some products reaching the O'Brien warehouse to fulfill our spring preorder inventory. We'll see how that plays out...

I was due to fly to Manchester, England on April 1st, that's off now, also, the county I live in (Bucks, PA) just decided to go into a full 2 week shut down with anything that is "non-essential" being asked to close up for the next 14 days.

Good news is I will have time to get the boat prepped for the season, bad news is I don't get to visit my 88yr old grandmother and can only hope she stays healthy from this side of the pond.

Not to be a Debbie Downer but the simulation assumes you can only get it once like the Chickenpox. Don't believe COVID-19 is a once and done. Please tell me I'm wrong.

A vaccine is the only way the end this. I'm confident we will get one. I pry for sooner than later.

It is not clear. We know so little right now. guys, I usually don't mix my IRL world with the forum stuff, but I wanted to share my recent FB post with y'all. The days ahead are uncertain.

Tomorrow I start my week long service in the ICU. I go with the knowledge that I may be exposed to COVID. I may get sick. I may end up needing medical care. I may expose my family as well. But I go because I can help those that need it.

I ask for your help as well. Stay home. I know you feel well. You probably won't get sick. But you could spread it to people who will. I know it's hard to stay home. Financially and mentally. But, I NEED YOU. Help me help others while being safe at the same time.

Help me by speaking up. Don't stay silent if you see someone not helping.

FYI, i do believe that getting on our yammies with just our families is social distancing. As long as you are not socializing in the dock/ramp/sand bar

All bars and restaurants ordered to shut down at 9pm tonight but the Governor. wow. There is a bar in Dayton that holds one of the biggest St. Patty's day party in the state every year... I heard an ad on the radio this morning... We won't have the big tents and the streets shut down this year but there will be plenty of Jameson so come out and party. What a jack ass to put that on the radio. I won't go back there. All "sides" aside, still got to do our part.

I’ll take a semi-educated guess.

Can you get it more than once? Short answer would be NO, provided you were symptomatic the first time around and it’s the same strain (let’s say - within the same season).

Comorbidity with flu virus has been reported, albeit it is a minor fraction.

I would think that asymptomatic carriers however, so individuals who are testing positive for the presence of the virus but are not experiencing symptoms - not fighting it and not feeling/looking sick - could possibly get it (become carriers) again, but this is speculative at present.

We will learn a lot more from serological studies (looking at who responded and how - this will be incredibly interesting BTW) down the road but that is not a priority at present while we struggle to test for the virus in the first place.

Well, we're going into "hunker down mode." In light of that, I bought a wireless router with a little more oomph and mesh-network capability.

When I'm working from home and all 4 kids are trying to do classes from home, it's going to tax my router and my ISP connection. With this new setup I may need to upgrade my ISP to something faster but I want to make sure I'm solid on my hardware first.

On the other end, I'm not sure my company is 100% ready for an extra 300+ people working remotely. The first few days of next week are going to be interesting for everyone.


On the non-technical front, we're starting to realize exactly what "social distancing" means. When the neighborhood boys want to go for a bike ride with mine (yes, this still happens in 2020 believe it or not), we keep reminding them to not fool around on the playground equipment at the park (they are too old to "play" on it, but you know how young teenagers like to go sit on it), don't ride each other's bikes or put on each other's helmets...

Then there's the daughter's boyfriend who works in a restaurant....

You can only do so much I guess.

Meanwhile, my biggest worry with working remotely is going to be to remember not to stand up during a video conference call if I'm not wearing pants.

This good news is no one else on that call is wearing pants either.

Had to do a quick Home Depot trip for (pro tip) cleaning supplies you can’t find at the store, but there are so many people in there coughing I needed to get out of there quickly.

Yesterday we departed Colorado. As we left they closed down all ski areas. We opted to drive all 16 hours return straight thru to Texas rather than stay in a hotel. We had to eat on the road but opted for drive thru only. Lots of coughing going on.

I went with a mesh system (Orbi RBK50) a couple of months back and have been very impressed.

Since I’ll be home with the kids for at least a couple of weeks I just got a subscription to Disney Plus. I was skeptical at first, but was blown away by how much content they have!

I may have to binge watch 46-hours of Duck Tales

Good call. We just grabbed HBO go through prime membership on top of D+ and NF. By the way mandalorian is solid. Not a star wars buff but thought mandalorian stood on its own.
