Very impressed, really nice clean job. Can you show where you made the transition through the transom. Is there a wire chase tunnel to the console? I want to install the Lowrance Elite Ti2 - 12" Is there enough room? Thanks
Not sure what boat you have.....you should update your profile.

That said, there is no wire chase in any of the yamahas. But there is a group of wires run through the starboard side of the boat that I just piggybacked with, and wrapped in a better wire loom. But this is my 242X....you may have an FSH

Here it is. I am going to be moving it to the Rideplate. It worked 100% of the time before the trim tabs. Depending on trim tab postion it now reads about 70% of the time. I will still use the same wire entry point. If you dont have trimtabs get them! amazing differenceCABLE.jpg

Thanks, look very clean. What is the name of the bracket that's supporting the wire entry. Is that entry point into the engine compartment or the lower platform area. I'm just trying to understand getting the transducer cable cleanly to the helm station. Thanks again for your help.

@motomandan did you move this to the ride plate? If you did do you have a picture of it?

no i did not. I adjusted the depth and angle and it works 90% of the time. Just issues with certain settings on the trimtabs. but goes away pretty quick

Great thanks. Think I am going to fabricate a piece of aluminum as others have done and go right to the ride plate. That way the SI works great.

I installed the 94sv with the transducer mounted to the ride plate as well. Now it's time to decide which maps to use; Navionics or Garmin? Because I intend to fish on both West and East of Florida, I don't know which one to buy. Garmin is more money and covers the entire state. I know Garmin uses Navonics data, so will I get the same info but with enhanced features? Anyone else experienced this dilemma?

Garmen owns Navionics now so Im not sure there is a diffrence. My Navionics card updates lets you download the Garmen Active Caption user updates too. Not sure on coverage however, My Navionics came with my G09

My new 2021 FSH210 has the transducer mounted on the port ride plate, because it was easy, convenient and I didn't want to drill a hole in the hull; then I realized I had to pass the cable thru the hull and drilled a 1/2" hole. Then I cut a giant 9" hole in the console for the display. The transducer location causes image noise, when port engine shift gate is in neutral or reverse, due to thruster blast around transducer. All forward thrust positions, from idle to wide open, produces a beautiful clear image. I can relocate the transducer elsewhere, but I really do not have a problem with the current performance. By the way, the Garmin Echomap UHD 94SV sonar/chartplotter features are really nice and the UHD display is beautiful.

IMG_5332.jpgIMG_5334.jpgIMG_5335.jpg These sonar/chartplotters have really come a long way in the last thirty years; the last one I had was a green hue 4" CRT screen.

Does the placement of the transducer cause an issue with side scan on the starboard side?

It looks like the placement above would interfere with sidescan. Here is a pic of my mounting. Even this low I can still see the kill on side scan, but it still works fine you can just see a line on the screen.

I am debating on how low to go with the mount. I will be mounting it to the ride plate as well. I was thinking if I could just go a bit under the keel I should get a great side scan. With a kickup fashioned mounting plate I should be good. I guess the question is how low. I have been told to just be slightly under the lowest point with the bottom of the transducer but can't seem to find any confirmation of this.

@Jet Boat Okie do you have a pic of where you went through the hull with the cable?

@Jet Boat Okie Where did you get the clamshell type fitting from where your cable goes through the hull. I can't seem to find one in that style, perhaps I am searching the wrong thing.

That ride plate setup looks great, but I think you will need some type of spacer to drop the transducer down more or it will have limited field of vision

That clamshell thing came with the Garmin. I did upgrade the mount because I was concerned the plastic would break.

This looks like a good option if your graph didn’t come with one.

@Jet Boat Okie Just ordered the Mount. Great thanks, I haven't opened it up fully yet out of the box, too many things being modded simultaneously.
