I would just make the claim with your insurance and let them know the info you have on the freighters. They can decide whether or not they want to seek contribution from the freighters’ carriers. They’ll also be in a much better position to know who to go after if necessary. My guess is with this size claim, they will not bother.
I agree, I am trying to have them claim it as an "Act of God". When the claims adjuster was talking to me yesterday, seems they were more concerned if I hit something or if somebody hit me. They couldn't understand how I had so much water in the boat, but no cosmetic or structural damage.

End of the boating season. Lift is floated off and boat trailered. We were fortunate to have decent temps and glassy water for our lift work last night. Always interesting when the water is warmer than the air. Still gotta pull the docks.

We are expecting freezing weather in the 20's and 30's for the next few days with high winds. Put a fork in it.

Until next year Lake Gypsy

I know some folks enjoy winter, including yourself, but I can't even imagine how depressed this job would make me.

Ya, it's a bit depressing. But honestly, after a couple weeks of cool weather, your mind shifts, you break out the flannel, and embrace the season change.

I've said it many times before, I feel we appreciate seasons far more when they are taken away from us and then given back. We abuse our boating season knowing it will go away. But if I lived in the South, I would never have any sense of urgency to go enjoy the day, knowing there is always tomorrow.

This past Sunday it was well over 80 degrees, we had 68 degree water (on the surface as it was much colder a foot down), and we sat on the lake till we got the boat on the lift in the dark, and partied on the lift till we finally had to make our way up to the house. It was the proper send off for summer.

Today it's raining and 43 degrees.

Dropping the boat at the storage facility this weekend and then off to a Christmas store that is open year-round that is right down the street. My GF loves Christmas and I told her that no talk of that until the boat is put away.

Will break out my snowboard on Sunday and drop it off at the shop to get waxed.

We stopped in that store once, and the wife said there's too much to take in on one trip. I'm wondering if her next husband knows what he's in for 🤣 That place is like Christmas threw up, and they swept it into a pile and built that store around it!

Is it STATS store?

Last night 31° this morning 28°, high today 67° then mid to upper 60’s through Tuesday with over nights in the mid 30’s, then duck weather later in the week, cooler and rainy/snowy conditions. I started the first fire of the season in the wood stove yesterday morning and Ive kept it going through this morning, I’ll let it go out today.

I “winterized” my boat, I blew out the mufflers when I came off the water at Oahe on Tuesday, then after getting back from Oahe I got most all the water out of the raw water wash down system and the cover is on. I’ll still be going out fishing occasionally through the first part of next month, ”winterizing” each time I come off the water, unless the weather turns very wintery, then the T top comes off and the boat goes into the shop. Once the water temp drops below 64° the bite should pick up a bit! Who knows? Another trip to Oahe might happen?

I like what @biffdotorg said about appreciating the season. There was an article I read some time back that said something like, “Those that can’t understand why folks will put up with mid west winters have never spent a summer there”. I went and found the article…I got pretty close in that quote. https://boattest.com/article/four-great-midwest-boating-destinations I find that to be very accurate.

I’ve got a nice schedule of off season boat projects to do, after a very busy hunting season. Installing locking latches on all compartments(6)- and hopefully I can do lift and latch ones like the oem ones, removing / repairing all the “learning” marks I put on my boat over the last three years, making my skag mount more robust and perhaps adding a second to reduce skidding in high wind along with dedicated storage above the horizontal rod holders, completing the hard top install, getting some canvas made for the hard top-camper canvas/clear panels for the Helm, getting the oem mooring cover modified to fit over the anchor roller & improve it for trailering, make better use of the head compartment for storage to centralize weight and open up other storage compartments for better transient storage, and depending on how many more hours I add during the shoulder season I may make a trip to the dealer in Bismarck to get the second (400 hour) valve lash check / adjustment.

It's this joint: http://kristmaskringle.com/

I know the feeling on temps, I was going to meet up with @WiskyDan today to take a look at his finished sound system, but nighttime temps will be dropping before we come back up, so I had to finish stuff today instead of tomorrow, and I have to decommission the water for the house tomorrow so I don't lose any pipes or fixtures to freezing temps.

Soon enough, it'll be time to close up the lake house for the winter. We'll make a weekend trip up for opening day of Sturgeon drinking season, and spring will be right around the corner.

Got some snow melt salt left over for my cheap-ass DIY DampRid, gotta hopefully get that set up tomorrow, and finish winterizing and putting the boat in storage

“Christmas threw up” is exactly what I said when we were walking around!!

My last “outing” photo of the year at the storage place in Fond du Lac.

Whealon Towing and Storage charges me under $1100 for heated (not “climate controlled”) indoor storage through the end of April. Really good dudes and extremely easy to work with. The two other quotes that I got for heated indoor storage last season were $1700-$1800.

After the Xmas place we went to LaClare creamery - petted a few goats and had some ice cream. Just down the road from there we went to The Little Farmer and picked some pumpkins from their pumpkin patch. We sat down and had a warm pumpkin/cream cheese muffin and called it a day.

Saturday it was warm enough to power wash the only two yamahas on our lake. Oil changes on my neighbors AR210, and a full wax/buff on our 242LS. I will acid wash the hulls in the spring when it's warmer.

I saw 24f on my dash this morning on the way into work. So glad I pulled docks on Sunday while it was 58 degrees
