2018 Bimini June trip (June 24th - June 30th)

@Bruce yes That’s what I heard as well
I can only be accountable for myself
I also follow an old friends saying “I ain’t gettin involved”
But I had originally heard you could go back as many times for a year then it was dropped back to 3 months
Unfortunately I have limited access to websites at work and and was looking for a quick answer without researching it myself:cool:

Well just a service announcement hopefully nobody is as boneheaded as me. Something came up today which required my boats registration so I reached into the glove box and of course where it always is for some reason it is not there. I have spent the last 4 hours tearing the boat my cars and my house apart looking for it and to no avail it is missing. This is a required doc to enter the Bahamas with your vessel thank god this came up today as I honestly probably wouldn't have even checked for it until the day we were leaving or worse and in SC it's a pain in the ass to get there are only 3 offices in the whole state I can get it at and the closest is about 120 miles away from me so looks like I have a road trip in my future. If you have not checked for yours lately you might want to give a little look. Two weeks ago coming back from Hilton Head I hit a large wake and the glove box door flew open I didn't think anything flew out but I'm now betting that it did.

Robert, sorry to hear, but glad you sent this. Is there anything else required other than passports?

Similar thing with us.....noticed that our trailer license plate was missing. Went to the DMV and it went like this:

  1. Me - I'm here to get a replacement plate for our trailer...our is lost.
  2. DMV-Your plate was turned in.
  3. Me-Great...can I have it
  4. DMV-no we just destroy them when they are turned in
  5. Me-Oh. What is the price for a new plate?
  6. DMV - Well, because it was turned in, we cancelled your plate, so you'll have to get a whole new plate $115. If it hadn't been turned in, it would have been $25 for a replacement.
  7. Me-What? In order to get a replacement, I had to fill out this big form, go to the bank with my wife, get it notarized, then come here. While someone who comes here with a plate you can't even ask him "is this your plate you are cancelled or a lost plate you found?"
  8. DMV-its $115
Morale of the story....don't turn in a plate if you find it...just bury it deep in the ground somewhere....you think you are doing someone a favor when in actual fact (in NC) you are costing them $90!

About 6 months ago I went looking for my registration and couldn't find it so I paid for duplicates. Last month I found it along with my customs paperwork from Bimini last year....

Ok... So I will be searching for my boat registration today and making sure the bolts are tight on my tag.. . Boat reg.. Passport... What else? Looks like ANOTHER check list may be needed..

2016 I Made it through Bimini customs without my registration. Forgot it on the boat. They were like don’t worry about it you got that $150 bucks have a nice day. . Not saying you won’t need it but seemed like to me they really just want their money .

Found my registration
But
My ski has been completely stripped of any type of name that I can use
I will have the graphics place make something up before I go

Anyone coming back a day or two early? It's our firts trip, but would like to get back a little bit sooner. Just have no interest in crossing alone.

I agree not sure they would turn me away but my luck I would get the new guy and would be the person they made an example of.

@Glen had a difficult time getting in without his registration document.

I have never been asked for it but would not travel without. In my state the registration document has to be in the boat at all times.

This may be a good option for anyone who does not have a plotter.

Raymarine has a Fathers Day sale on plotters.

The $299 deal on the closeout A78 touchscreen plotter with a transom mount transducer is a particularly good deal.

I am uncertain if these deals come with charts. If not you may be able to use free Light House Charts or you may wish to buy Navionics charts which could cost $150 to $250 for your chosen area.
