2018 Bimini June trip (June 24th - June 30th)

See yesterday Monday looked great on some forecasts I saw now the wind is scheduled higher then it was. We’re still probably a week away from any kind of remotely accurate forecast though so we shall see

Not gonna lie though all these videos I'm seeing that are being posted right now of these different groups crossing in near perfect conditions are a little aggravating I can't help but think they are getting all the great weather

I claim the great weather for July. You "Juners" need good enough weather to be able to recon.

I would not be too concerned if Sundays Mutineers took a beating.

My friends are crossing this Sunday
They tried to talk me into going with them
I will cry my eyeballs out if our crossing is yucky.....
I have had rain
Every
Single
Day
For months now....
If anyone knows of an anti-rain dance can you please take care of this now?

I was looking at the forcast last night and Sunday looked pretty smooth....watching the weather forcast for our area last night it looks like the remains of Cyclone Bud will be reaching the Atlantic next weekend...which according to their maps would change the wind direction in Florida to southerly....this would be bad. I hope to heck that is wrong.....

Same deal up north here in Chicago area.
I am praying for both groups to have smooth crossings and to enjoy an amazing part of creation!

One can only hope we have the same. Almost the whole month has had awesome conditions. Hope it doesn’t change

The forecast seems to be trending toward better conditions. There could be benefit to targeting the 07:02 slack tide on Sunday morning for the easiest departure from Port Eveglades.

I would wait until Monday’s forecast is avaialbe. Really I would wait as long as you can. Based on current data I think it is likely that Monday will be better than Sunday.

But the storm has a lot of time to slow down, speed up, get stronger or get weaker.

These long term forecasts are about as Useless as a knitted Condom. 3 Days out is what you can start looking unless there is a major event.

Agreed, but it does get people to start thinking about contingency plans...

HEY! I BEEN STAIRING AT THESE FORCASTS FOR MONTHS! DONT RAIN ON MY PARADE NOW THAT I CAN SEE THE DAY WE START DRIVING. JUST LEAVE ME TO MY INSANITY! Lol seriously I just like the fact that our window is finally on the radar! :D

Without a forecast for the Monday it is really difficult to make any conclusions. Once we have that forecast we need to see how it is changing over time which will give us some idea about how certain the forecast models are but as @DieselCamel points out the forecasts often have huge variation this far out. Even in the hours before the forecast will change and as we have seen in 2015 & 2017 the forecast can be very wrong.

On the positive side the Bimini weather station is currently operating which seems to correlate with more accurate forecasts, each revision of the 10 day forecast is showing better water and the wind forecasts are relatively low.

I can change my Bahia mar reservation up till wednesday at midnight .. I figure we will have a real good idea by then..

How boring would it be for the July group monitoring/tracking our crossing if the seas were glass. Rain, lightning, anchor punctures, coast guard calls, sinking boats, falling tower, drifting without fuel, blown out backs, and I'm sure I'm missing other items that kept this forum extremely entertaining last year. No waves = No site refreshes
