I took my boat to the Keys last week from St. Augustine, and 2 days into our trip, we hit a snag! We were out on the water and I got , what I thought was a overheating warning from the system. The Keys had a ton of seaweed so I checked the impeller. It was pretty clear, so I started it back up. Same error, but I noticed that the touch screen would not respond. The motors sounded and were responding properly. If I would have been able to turn the annoying beeping off, I would have been fine. I eventually just unhooked to display unit all together. Everything worked fine, but I had no gas gage, or tach info. I also has to be extra careful to not have any seaweed in the impeller without the over heating warning. Anyway, I got the boat home safely, and figured this would be a non issue with the dealer. Swap out the display unit under warranty, no biggie. Welp, the dealer says, they have no recalls on the display unit, so warranty will not apply. Then the kicker, so it's gonna be $2000! Mind you, he said this over the phone before he's even seen the boat. The part is $500, and it literally just plugs in. So... should this issue be covered, and has this issue happen to anyone else. I would hate to replace the unit on my own and get the same error. Looking forward to hearing what you guys think, Thanks!

Image below, with loud beeping and no touch screen control.

I cant believe it is not covered.
No YES warranty?
I would be placing a call to Yamaha

With all these electronics, this is why I bought a YES warranty on my boat. Hopefully @mattymars has one. If its under warranty, then it will be covered, if it isn't, then as the dealer says, it won't be covered unless there is a recall on them due to multiple defects.

Yes! The warranty was expired by a couple months, but the dealer convinced Yamaha to replace the unit. Thank god!

Calling Yamaha tomorrow to see if they will send it to me. Bought the boat in May of 2019 I can't imagine the warranty being up. I thought they had 3 years?

My touch screen on my 2021 SX 195 quit working yesterday. Is there a fuse that might be the issue. Just hoping it’s a fuse that needs to be replaced

Does anyone know how to disconnect the Connext screen? I have a 2019 sx190 and the screen does not work when you tap on it. The maintenance warning light came on with a loud beeping noise and I am unable to shut that off. I have read elsewhere that you can disconnect the screen but I’m just not sure where to do that. I want the boat to be usable and the screens are on back order

@Tammy I had to disconnect my Connext screen to pull out the dash when I needed to cut the dash to fit a chartplotter. The large molex style plug has a "swing-lock" handle to unlock it, then it pulls out. Yours is likely similar on the back of the display?

yes. Going to try to disconnect it tomorrow. Just wanted to make sure this was the correct thing. Didn’t want to cause any more damage. Just really hoping by disconnecting it the boat will still function correctly to take it out on the water. Don’t want it to be unusable u t a replacement screen can come in. Thanks for your help.

Make sure your battery switch is off before you disconnect. That rule applies to any electrical changes or mods.

Any other advice? I am going to try and replace mine this weekend

That's number one - disconnect all power sources and go from there. Electronic devices can be sensitive to electrical variances, even when turned off, so make sure there is no electrical current flowing anywhere - keep the battery switches off and you're good to go.

Just replaced mine this week under warrant. Dealer was nice enough to exchange it insteaded of bring boat in for a 2min job.
