Curious on when people are planning on going next year? Heard a couple peeps mention but their isn’t a thread dedicated to 2022.

Also, does anyone own property in the Bahamas? I was looking at a couple places in Bimini. Freeport has some places on the canal too that seems like they’re priced pretty low since they’re still recovering. But it doesn’t seem like people make trips to Grand Bahama or am I wrong? I have a few questions for someone that wouldn’t mind sharing their experience purchasing land.

I'm thinking of doing a crossing for spring break next year or summer. But I'm reading the east winds die down around June July timeframe so I may just target the summer instead. I'm planning to say at the Hilton Resort there. It'll be my first time doing the crossing.

Out of curiosity what made you decide on Hilton vs Bimini Sands? Let me know what dates you decide. I’m trying to go longer than 5 days like some of the trips people have done. I have to trailer my boat for 23hrs so want to make it worth it.

Freeport is not the best area. It has it's criminal problems. Port Lucaya is a little better. West End is too but it is rather expensive. All three are a great hub for moving on the The Abacos though. Green Turtle, Hope Town are great locations where you can still find the "old Bahamas". They are still struggling with the recovery from Dorian, but they are well on their way. Treasure Cay was also very nice (my favorite) but they have not gotten any support for recovery and are still in dire straits. All the condos surrounding the marina were destroyed now there is just vacant land.

It is 70 miles from West Palm Beach to West End, a little further to Freeport and Port Lucaya. Still much more quiet than Bimini.

I have some hilton hotel free points that I am planning to use.

I plan to do a crossing as well for the first time and hope to see more info on this.

I so want in on the 2022 trip but want to go with the larger group as it will be our first time crossing. 2019 ar240 4 adults with possibility of 6 adults kinda hoping two will take the ferry over.

Even being a first time crosser I would recommend crossing with no more than 6 boats in one group. 4 would be ideal so that you can easily keep track of everyone even in rough conditions. When there gets to be more than that it gets hard for everyone to keep the same pace and stay together.

Just my .02

Yeah I was hoping I could jump in like the second group heading out in the morning of a trip with like 4 other boats.

Our crossings are very loosely organized. I would recommend you get with all the Captains in your specific group and discuss what your plans are and what the group is expecting and planning on doing while crossing before departing FL. This way you are all on the same page and no one get's left behind or worse.

Since my family screwed up my 2021 Bimini trip by bailing at the last minute....I may plan my own trip in 2022, and look for crew members......

Mine will be a late June, or mid July trip (avoiding the 4th of July).

You guys going again next year? I dunno if we got boated out or what, but we haven't gone out since the trip lol. Honestly we've just been busy this summer.

We are planning on staying closer to home next year, maybe KY or TN but we will be going back to Bimini in the future. We've been out every weekend but maybe one since we got back. Gotta take advantage of the great boating weather that we've had up here because it's getting close to wrapping things up for the season.

Ha...it's finally getting palatable down here in FL lol. I was talking to the wife yesterday about it actually. Told her I figured next year was most likely a no-go since we did it this last year, already got a May trip planned, etc., and she was like "well, I dunno..." so who knows...

We're looking at going again in 2023 or 2024. We are thinking of taking another family with us next time but we'll see and we will definitely be staying over there for 7 days again if not more.

Jealous of all the photos/videos of past trips. Would love to go at some point. Fairly easy drive down from NC.

I feel to make it worth the pain of towing my boat down I’d have to go for 7 or more days. Not sure what dates work yet.
