Bimini July 1-8 2019 - Others welcome to join us - This trip is ON!

No, this is our first crossing! Also worth mentioning... we have an SX192.

We’ve gone over the preparing for Bimini thread several times and we’re starting to collect things now!

How many people do you plan to have aboard? What equipment do you plan on installing?

We are trying to make a Bimini trip this summer, maybe 2. I like this first week of July, but how many other trips are there?

This year due to the uncertainty of Bimini Sands, the trips are smaller groups renting from homeowners directly vs leveraging a larger group rate and the full pool of rentals at the Sands. I am aware of 2 trips for sure, July 1 departure, and July 8th departure.

Just my husband and me. Maybe one other couple, but most likely just us. We have a GPS on board already. Planning to get a radio and a handheld. We’re thinking 25 gallons of fuel in a few gas cans.

Gosh I wish I were going again! Hope all goes well for all the trips and crews!
I hope all accommodations are perfect as well!
I hope to do this trip again, it was just absolutely beautiful

@Julian, what's the "uncertainty of Bimini Sands"? We're thinking about joining the first week of July.. also, how are y'all hooking up with the private Condo owners?

Lots more questions to come!

Thanks!
-Eric

Bimini sands is in the process of being sold (all the common areas, pools, harbor and the pool of approx 26 condos). So booking a large group wasnt possible this year.

The only way to get a condo is via airbnb etc

Thanks for the info! Hoping to join the group this year!

I'm excited to be able to spend my 50th birthday (July 3rd) in Bimini and I am also hoping to see some major fireworks shows.
Was there last year for the 4th - this was the extent of the fireworksIMG953667.jpg

and this was the only flag we saw

We had a great time though.......wish we were going back this year!

Bimini won't have a major fireworks show of any kind....unless you bring it!
I'm thinking about crossing back over to Miami, or at least far enough to see coastal Florida fireworks.

You must like your fireworks!
I do, and I also love being out on the water at night. Seeing fireworks from the boat is a tradition for us. If fireworks are semi legal in Bimini, I might bring some along. I'll check their laws on fireworks.

Edit: Just checked and it looks like fireworks are frowned up. Seems to be pretty much held in the same regards as firearms.
