Drama and Fear have become their own contagions with this. Don’t spread the drama and fear as there is more than enough already.

On the positive. I am looking forward to being 10 - 80 feet back from everyone while wearing a life jacket in the near future.

Just read that Manatee County Florida is closing all public boat ramps. Article stated too many fools rafting up or going to islands and acting the fool. States they ruined it for everyone. I have zero faith in humankind. After 26 years in Law Enforcement I feel qualified to make that statement.

My dad is 63. Sanitary Engineer for the county and had NO CLUE what telework was until this week. So now he is monitoring the plants from his bedroom.

This is an excellent point but not just for that website but all news outlets. They should show recovery. Otherwise, like mentioned, it's all doom and gloom.

That's the biggest issue I have with these maps, aside from the ones injecting malware (y'all be careful clicking as this is PRIMETIME for malware and hackers).

None of these maps reflect the ones who recover, that John Hopkins or whatever maps most of these news sites like to use, you know the one with the big, bad, HUGE scary looking red blobs covering the entire globe, yea that one never shows recovered. Just infected.

Looks really bad but why do they not report on the good side (people who recover fine) vs the doom and gloom of the other spectrum (those who die)? Because it wouldn't generate near the interest and captivate the world. As they say, never let a good crisis go to waste....

I'm not trying to dismiss the seriousness of this at all as it is a very serious virus. I just wished the MSM wouldn't use a crisis to generate views, hits, ad revenue etc and other methods of skewed reporting.

And even if that market isn't selling some of those things anymore....you have to know people are still selling and eating it sold somewhere else. The most disturbing are the bats and rodents for sale! Snakes and dogs....not something we are used to eating, but they've eaten for millennia.

@ripler We've happily avoided political discussions for years here. Yes, this problem is a hot one and drives us more to politics (like I confess I did in an obtuse way and @haknslash just did boldly). But we have had more harmony without it then when the old forum let it run amok.

I look forward to a good bipartisan package that will do more than just give big companies free money. All my brother is being offered in the latest iteration is a low interest loan so he can go more into debt paying his staff while making no money. That isn't helpful.

I think we can all agree it's a broken system that needs a serious retooling. First past the post in general isn't great, and gerrymandering only makes it worse. Throw in career politicians, and lobbyists and the whole thing has gone to pot.

Not burying our head, just not the right venue for it. I think we all know where to find political based opinions.

That is a nice visual aid but seems to be lacking updates. A lot has changed in a week's time since last update and some of the graphs even longer.

-Publication of corporate pay statistics by race and race statistics for all corporate boards
-A bail out on all current debt at the Postal Service
-Required early voting
-Required same day voter registration
-Provisions on official time for union collective bargaining
-Full offset of airline emissions by 2025
-Publication and reporting of greenhouse gas statistics for individual flights
-Retirement plans for community newspaper employees
-Federal $15 minimum wage
-Permanent paid leave
-Study on climate change mitigation efforts
The provisions will apply to the companies and business rescued by bill

Doesn't matter if you are far right or far left, or somewhere in between. Just wonder why they can't all be adults in this situation, and work towards a fair compromise which helps all. Instead of continuing with the full speed ahead socialist agenda no matter what. Argue for socialism later but get the job needed done, and now; and put your agenda aside at least for a bit.

Why are some gun stores not being deemed essential business in certain states or cities? Last time I checked you buy a firearm to protect YOUR LIFE and YOUR FAMILIES lives. Some PD'a are telling their community they will not come out for robbery and vandalism. Ok so you take away the ability for people to defend themselves AND you plan not to come when they need your help? Yea fuck that. Good thing I have ammo and firearms.
