@jryan I copied this picture. IMO, these are families doing their part. Appears boats are more than 10' apart. 2 people walking the beach and everyone keeping their distance. Just because there are a lot of boats does not mean social distancing is not being followed. Keep in mind "most" boats are 8.5" wide.
This is what makes the uncoordinated state by state approach not work. I can GUARANTEE that there are plenty of boats out there with extended family and friends on board. I get that going out with just one's family should be fine. But how do we police this? The "shelter at home" order is really the only way to best ensure we are all not mingling and passing this shit on. Until then.....its "party on" in some places, while others are hunkered down.....pointless that some are isolating while others are not.
Your right Julian, for every boat that's out on the water and trying do do the right thing, there are likely several others that are party central. I'll certainly be complying with the latest orders and will not be going out on the boat. I have a SeaDek install to complete anyhow.
My dad wanted to get out of the house and get some exercise so he drove his boat to peanut island in west palm beach. He said that there was parties, people hanging out, and violating the social distancing. The Florida governor did too little too late. Let's hope that this doesn't start spreading through the majority florida population: Aging with pre-existing conditions.
Here in the west we value our personal freedoms, but at this time, at what cost? There isn't a sense of collective good in the USA. "its everyones responsibility to not get sick. If you get sick, maybe you weren't working hard enough."
I spoke to my friend in bogota, colombia and she says that there is a shelter in place order. They are writing tickets to people that ignore the rules. Seems to be working in keeping people at home.
Just talked to my lead in India - where they just ordered a shelter at home order for the entire country. He said cops are stopping people on the street and fining them and even some are making them drop and do push ups! LOL Now there is a different world!!!!

Of course they are still pooping in the street in the slums primarily, but there is a big push in India to provide public rest rooms. I've only seen this happen once in the last 3-4 trips. Heck, I even saw a fully automated street cleaning truck in one of my recent trips. They are TRYING to clean up India.....but have a LONG way to go.
@Dean P no failing.....its more like "public shaming". Like the guy getting yelled at for not returning his shopping cart. And castes are still prevelant, so a cop would only yell at or make someone do pushups if he was confident they were "lower caste". Also, community policing is very much a thing in India, so the cop probably knows the kid he's making do pushups...... like a said....different world entirely.

This is an excellent point but not just for that website but all news outlets. They should show recovery. Otherwise, like mentioned, it's all doom and gloom.
Here in IL they deemed the cannabis dispensaries both "medical and recreational" essential. Here, it is far easier to list the places forced to close than the ones allowed to stay open. So far I've only been able to determine jewelry stores and places of "pure recreation" (bowling alleys, casinos, etc.) are required to close.
