New to grilling on a boat. I am thinking about asking Santa Claus for a grill this year. I want one that mounts on a poll on the swim deck. Once your done grilling for the day, does one just put a cover over the grill and drive the boat home? Or let the grill cool down and dismount from the poll while storing inside the boat why under power?

Times 3....I wait for the grill to cool and put it away.

(4x) We have a Magma for the swim platform on the Yamaha and a Napoleon for the Beneteau. The Magma gets put away in it's bag, starboard side aft under cockpit seating outboard of engine bay. The Napoleon gets clamped to the stern pulpit rail and we sail away.

For grilling which one do you like better?

They both do their duties well. The Napoleon is a little bigger than our Magma Newport 2 and cooks with a potential higher output. We like the Napoleon but it is too big to stow away in the Yamaha.

I use a weber go anywhere portable grill. I just place it on the table that goes on the rear swim platform and when I am done, I let it cool which doesn't take long, put it in a bag, and store it under the port side bench seat (J seating configuration).

I am thinking about a new grill that has some more power (Weber Q series or others) but this go anywhere grill is really good enough and for the cost, kind of disposable. Most times I pre cook food at home such as chicken breasts, steak, burgers, etc and then I just reheat out on the water.

That Beneteau 43 is obviously not a sailboat now. I can see they have a Magma on the stern pulpit. Their rendition of a mast with stays and shrouds is funny. Park it in a slip and make an air B and B out of it. In a few of months you could have the money to rerig it. We watched a couple of "sailboats" motor around Lake Champlain all Summer with their masts unstepped lashed to the deck.

That was in key west harbor. They were living on it. That way they can go under lower bridges.

How did you mount the grill to the table leg? Can't just leave us hangin'!

Well I won't leave you hanging, I took the table leg to my local discount marine store (Marine Mart) and fitted it with a table mount base then I ordered the recommended Universal Adaptor from Magma , 10-179 Universal Pedestal Adaptor($25,98) and attached table mount base to it. Had to drill some new holes in the adaptor to fit the table base bracket, all good. Hope this is helpful.

Got it! Nice!20191217_084623.jpg

Any idea where I can find a pedestal for my 2009 SX210? Previous owner lost it and I would love to grill off the swim platform.

Between $60 and $80 from various sources.
