installing a Lowarence Elite 5 on a FSH

@Thomas J. did that give you the info you needed?

Hey thanks for the answers. I had the power no problem. Knowing you go by the fuel tank makes it easy for me to get it. Thanks for the help

Updated on shootthru hull transducer installation:
So I have tested the shoot thru hull transducer installation, have been out in the ocean with waves 3-4 feet, at speeds up to 40 MPH, and so far it has read depth without any interruption . I have also gotten correct water temperature reading too.
I'm pleased with the way the transducer was installed.

Yes it is. the instruction manual shows you how to install shoot thru hull or standard installation.

@Danielmailin just mounted my transducer on a 190 fsh sport using your right up. Very thorough, and detailed. Thanks for taking the time. Can't wait to try it out!

@Danielmailin I will be attempting this on my FSH with a Lowrance Hook 7 this week. Hope my install goes as smoothe as yours

7 is the perfect size. I upgraded mine to a HDS7 it looks better.
The installation should not take you more then 2 hours, 3 if you take your time.
Remember, measure, then measure and measure again before you start drilling!

The hook 7 is a nice unit. The 7 inch screens fit real nice. You'll like the finished product. Just take your time. You'll be happy you did.

I did exactly as you did but I lose my bottom reading and depth over about 7-8 mph. Any thoughts?

In mine i have readings at all speeds, the only time i looe reading is when i come to a stop for about 30 seconds and when i go in reverse.
Did you go into settings and check to see if there is an adjustment for what type of transducer and if is shoot thru hull or standard.

I don't lose depth on mine, only fish. I don't get the nice bottom readings and fish anything above 7mph. I looked at mine and where I mounted the ducer is right in line with the live well intake. I believe that is my cause . Had I moved it an inch to the center of the boat I bet I'd be fine.

I bet you're right about the issue being the live well intake...and the turbulence cause by it. I put my transducer in the exact same place as yo and have no problems until I'm going pretty dang fast and then it rarely affects the depth finder...unless the depth is really deep (>70').

@Danielmailin It looks like you just spliced into the ground wire and used a new connector into the hot?

Daniel thanks for the reply - thats what I did as well.

Kind of crazy that they do not provide a connection to the ground as well - seems like a kludgy way to do the connection with a splice. Any alternatives to this?
