JetBoaters.net Bimini Fling July 10th to 15th 2017

Sooooo can I hook on to your boat or your anchor line (please)

Tying skis to boats in Bimini is fine but the current, waves and wind are typically strong enough that every boat needs to anchor for themselves. The exception is when mooring balls are available. We can string boats together from a mooring ball but you will want a minimum of a 15' 3/8" or 1/2" dock line to do so. You need the length to prevent collisions and the diameter to prevent breaks.

I will probably not be diving this summer unless i have too, but can we not hover around the diver's flag? We can set anchor alarm on the chartplotter too, so it beep if we drift! ?

Edit: I just looked at the pictures again. I think we could tie on the wreck too.

I'd be very surprised if there aren't mooring bouys....unless they want to risk damage to growth on the wreck or reefs in the area....

This new reef is in a sandy bottomed area. They could install mooring bouys. It may happen someday but it seems self defeating for dive boat operators to make it easier for us to go on our own. Those guys make their living by taking land lubbers out.

Man this has grown huge. @Bruce have you thought about adding a secondary launch location on the first page as a back up just in case they can't launch from Harbor Towne? I know in 2015 parking was an issue at Harbor Towne and we had members still siting there the night before we left till 10pm trying to get parking with a group this large I see the same issues possibly reoccurring in a much larger scale. I know in 2015 it was over a Holiday weekend but a group this size could almost take up that whole lot by itself let alone any normal traffic they have there.

@robert843 I have had this conversation with Harbor Towne. They have suggested that they may reserve some space for us when I call two weeks in advance.

Unfortunatley there are no other similar sized facilities in the area.

I will have a backup option. That may be to separate truck and trailer and park in the car parking at Harbor Towne. More likely it will involve off airport parking and a shuttle.

In 2015 we were there for the Fourth of July weekend. This year we will be looking for parking on a Sunday afternoon on a slower weekend. Hopefully there will be space.

I think only trailer vehicle parking on the right two rows. But those lower section on the inside right did have the trailers blocking like that in the photo when I was there so they may still be there when y'all launch. Also I have read quite a few people planning that time frame or before on THT. They may accommodate else where on site also.

The ski count is pretty fuzzy but let's say 42 boats and 8 skis crossing together with 2 boats and a ski joining us on other dates.

Wow!!! 42 boats!!!

Yamaha should be there waiting with a hospitality tent and gifts. What a display of Yamaha boats!
