I think you'll find that the swim step on this boat is much lower than your old one and you'll get a lot more wash onto it.....my Polk control now already feels like its going to come off....I had a Fusion head unit and remote on my swim platform for a several years on the last boat. I boat in saltwater. The Fusion REMOTE handled it well and never gave me a seconds trouble. This particular unit has a seal around it and I may go ahead and put a small bead of silicone around it for insurance after I confirm everything is working. I also tied all of the wires behind it up higher than the unit so that water SHOULD stay away from the connections. With all that said, I'll never own anything but Fusion for head units and remotes. I was very impressed with what they were able to endure.
