I need a Marriott property. Is that the side of the lake we will be on though the Wake Forrest side?

Well no but there is no traffic to where we will be.. maybe a 10 min dr. .. what counts as a m as riot property?

Marriott, Courtyard, Fairfeild Inn, Renaissance Inn, Ritz Carlton, Towne Place Suite, Spring Hill Suites, Gaylord Hotels, AC Hotels, and Residence Inn

I'm currently booked at a Fairfield Inn and Suites on the West Side of Raleigh for $35 per night but if there is a property closer I can probably still get a discount and move closer.

Are u at the Fairfield in on 540 by the air port? It won't be a bad drive to the lake from there on sat morning. I couldn't find one of those hotels any closer. Follow 540 to hwy 50 north and when u cross the lake the boat ramp entrance is on your right. If that's the one u will use.

Yes that sounds correct. Thanks!

@bronze_10 according to @jullians map the cove is right around the peninsula from there correct?

Yes... when u launch u go under the bridge.... u will see the marina in front of u.... turn right into the large part of the lake and it's about halfway down on the right

Anyone have a decent drone? I have a crappy one with no FPV and no gimble....just a fixed angle gopro mount. I'll bring it if no one else has a better one. It should get some sort of wide angle aerial shot.....
I have a DJI Phantom 3 too. I'll bring it!

I'll be in Chicago all week at a meeting, then at Habitat House Build on Friday....so can't wait to get back and relax!!!

Ok.. we r less than a week away ... now it's time for a few house keepin issues..

1- just to have an good idea I would like to know who is Definately in...

2- for those who are coming and are not familiar with falls lake please sound off... falls isn't an east lake to navigate sometimes.. esp when u r not familiar. We WI give u ramp tips and how to find us.

3- if it will make things easier for those who are not familiar we can offer an escort if needed. We will provide a phone number later in the week to call or text and we can make sure u and your boat arrive. [I think @Julian has a decent map showing the area).

4- if u think you would need some assit getting to the cove let's make sure we communicate. Some people from out of town will be arriving at different times. The escort is just an excuse to go cruizing!!!!!

5- if for whatever reason u have people who would like to come but can't arrive and leave the dock with you rhe cove we will be in is at the southern end of sandling beach state park. They can literally park a car approximately 300 feet from where we are and we are in site of the parking area. However we are on the other side of the cove. A boat will have to idle over and pick them up but it will be less than one minute to get there to pick them up... no issue at all.

6- falls is hard to navigate through sometimes due to so many identical fingers that split off of it. However it is a beautiful ride. If late in the day people who are not familiarwith the lake and who want to see the scenery we can cruise to the far end of the lake where the dam is... it's approximate a 20 mile cruise from the cove.

7- if anyone is coming from out of town and needs help with hotels or specific directions you can pm me or @Julian or many other locals

@Julian , anything I forgot?

If anything arises my pm me...

We r looking forward to saturday!
I'm definitely coming! It will be me and at least some of my 4 kids..... boys 9 and 11 and girls 13 and 16

Hello @bronze_10 My wife and I will be towing down from Roxboro, I'd expect to be dipping the boat about 10/1030 and I'll head to the cove area. I'll have my radio on and be looking for the large gathering. we'll hang till whenever then tow back to HQ. I have a blue 212x with a M61 20mm Vulcan Gatling gun bow mounted......or maybe just a blue 212x.

I'm all for a run from one end to the other on the lake ! @Julian I hope to get a good review on your wetsounds tower soundbar ! I believe you have my cell Julian, I'll PM you bronze

I am meeting @btbowden and @justason at the hwy 50 ramp at 1030.. if anyone else needs an escort to the cove you are welcome to meet then as well. Otherwise it's not hard to find.. just reference @Julian map earlier in this thread..

Added here again for your convenience! The Red dot is where the cove is. The yellow dot is where the beaches are. So if you are passing the beaches, you've gone too far. There is also a beach at the lower of the two purple triangles. The Star with "Highway 50" pointing at it is the Highway 50 Ramp.

I hope to be out there by 10am....send me a conversation message if you would like my phone number.

Hmmmm. I am thinking I may be inn for this gathering. It looks like I may be getting stationed overseas so this would be my last hurrah with the boat and would be nice to meet some other Jetboaters. Are the hotels close by pretty safe to park a boat in the parking lot overnight. Will be coming from VA Beach on Friday night and staying for the weekend.
