Man this really makes me want to drop some serious coin on my 242XE I just got. How much you think you’ve spend on stuff other then the boat so far? What else you have planned?

I really like the custom SeaDek pieces, it does give it a "finished" look to it. Seems like with all the rest of the stuff you did to the boat, you were pot committed on those extra pieces! In for a penny, in for a pound! Couple more questions:



Did you fill the holes from the carpet snaps with anything, or just go over them with the SeaDek? What was your reasoning for doing the SeaDek rather than fixing the holes with some gelcoat paste, and even if you would have done the gelcoat, would you have done the SeaDek? What's the width of that SeaDek on that narrow ledge? Any concerns about it coming up since it's such a slim area?




Same question on the holes, although for that piece of SeaDek, I can appreciate that expense a lot better - something about the size of it seems more "worth it" to me. Not saying that any of the pieces are NOT worth it, but that piece would have been a super easy sell for me too, and I'm not as certain on the smaller pieces that I might have gone that route. I'm really interested in your "is the juice worth the squeeze" mathematics on these two "hole coverings" LOL

I think I said it earlier, but I'll put it down here as well - I really really like the idea of repurposing the anchor locker. I've got a smaller boat than yours, and I really didn't dig the anchor that's designed to go in that area. Since I still haven't decided on how to solve/tackle the drain hole, I haven't put ANYTHING in there, and it's just a huge waste of space that's begging for something like what you did. Looks like there's at least one rope in there (I know, it's a "line", , as well as a few bungee lines. What exactly do you have in there, and what length are the ropes and bungees you've got?

I've got 3 Sentry fenders and 3 Taylor Made 8" fenders, as well as 2 Mantus anchors. Being able to get the Sentry fenders and my dock lines out of the way like you've done would be a godsend, and free up some room for me to make holders for the Mantus'

Have you considered opening up the anchor locker drain and putting some LED's in there? That's the only other place I can see for you to add some light

- I filled them in with 5200 before laying down the SeaDek.

- Honestly, I just really like the SeaDek and it was one of the first mods I had planned. Didn't even use the carpet once. I also don't have the skill or patience to try and repair the gel coat where the snaps were.

- Not sure and unfortunately my boat is in an indoor storage unit about 15 miles away right now so I cant measure.

- Not at all. I'm actually surprised that Jet Boat Pilot doesn't include those strips in their Cockpit Kit. I can tell you that Starboard Side strip was cut too long. I made it fit; however, when comparing to the Port Side you can tell the difference.

- Here is my reasoning for the custom pieces: 1. Name Piece On Bow (self explanatory). 2. ST Design over bow ladder area (wanted to cover the holes left by bow ladder and thought it would be a cool Easter egg since the area is normally covered). 3. ST Design on side of helm (wanted to copy the design que from the new 25 foot model). 4. Thin strips in cockpit (wanted to cover snaps from carpet and complete the look). 5. Port Side Black Lip (using area for cooler. Didn't want to scratch up the gloss black finish) 6. Porto Potty Area (never using porto potty and will be using the area for the little storage my boat has left). 7. Rectangular Strip at Helm (I rest my feet in that area sometimes and thought it would be nice). I can tell you that I sent Jet Boat Pilot pics of the areas I wanted/the design and they took care of the rest. I didn't have to use a template or do any measurements. Either they had the dimensions from prior jobs or they had access to a 24 footer and simply measured it on their own.

- 4 Mission Sentry Fenders
- 4 Ronix Bungie Docking Lines (Ronix Accessories | 6' Adjustable Webbing Bungee Boat Dock Tie | Ronix Wakeboards, Boots, Wakesurf, Wakeskate and Vests)
- 2 West Marine 20 Foot Lines with Danik Hooks on them for the 2 shores spike (The World’s Best Anchor Hook - Danik Hook)
Of note: I did remove the hardware in the anchor locker that was associated with mounting an anchor. It seems to free up some space.

We actually did the same thing on our 2013 212SS. We stored our two box anchors in the center deck locker.

- Sounds cool but I think the fit is too tight in there. Plus I'm about ready to announce "DONE!!" on this build.

Shore Spike is used when beaching the boat and should not be used in place of an anchor. As for the anchor, well I know you know the purpose of that.

I personally always use two shore spikes when beaching and two box anchors when anchoring. Is it needed? Probably not but it gives me peace of mind.

Yeah.... I posted some towards the end of the last season and the wife caught wind. Needless to say, I removed them quickly. I anticipate plenty of action shots that are not associated with my wife or her friends on Memorial Day weekend. I will post those for sure.

1. The light zone controller. Since you probably have 1,632 things wired up to each zone, what does the wiring for that thing look like? I plan on copy and pasting what you did with the Wet sounds MC-1 controller by mounting it behind the throttles and Ill end up buying the wet sounds LED zone relay controller as well.
2. Do you have a link for the speaker LED rings? I wasn't planning on doing that all but it looks badass.

As for the zone controller... I'm heading down to the boat today and will snap some pics of it and the placement of the "Black Box Brain" of the MC-1. There is A LOT of wiring that was ran through out the boat. I had it professionally done and the feed back I got from my installer was it was a royal pain to break everything down into zones but the end result was bad ass.

@Sotally Tober questions for you (hopefully I didn't miss these if you answered already):

1. Where are you going to put a trash can? Did you come up with a super cool solution for this?
2. Where did you get the bungee phone holders? Do they make a slightly bigger one? I need these!
3. Does the mirror mount on the tower impinge on the bimini fabric? Can you get a closer shot of that bracket? I'd love to move my mirror up to a tower mount - one concern I'd had was how much the tower moves/vibrates - have you been happy with it there?
4. How easy is that cooler to get stuff in and out of? Can it handle bottles? (Yeah I know....some people don't bring bottles on boats....I do....I like beer in a bottle!) We had one with a zipper down the center....and it was a PITA to get into.....sold it on ebay.

Here are the pics of the area directly behind the helm. It's a mess due to the amount of space we were working with but the stock piece of fabric covers everything nicely and gives it a neat appearance. The black box to the left of the LED Zone Controller is the Black Box Brain of the Wet Sounds MC-1 Head Unit.
