So, I bought a new 195FSH Sport & use the fish locker as a drink cooler. The seal for the drain leaked and by design water is supposed to drain into the head compartment, through the drain in the floor and into the hull, and towards the sump and drain plugs. Well, mine doesn't drain, filled the head compartment with water and soaked everything in the process. I used my drill pump to drain as much as I could then ran my fish tape down it with zero luck.

Has anyone else seen this? See pics.

It is scheduled to go to the dealer at the end of the month so he can deal with this one but I thought Id ask.

thanks

I also have a new 195fsh sport with 5 hr on it now. I live in New Jersey and we've had a lot of rain over the past 2 weeks. I also found a lot of water in the head compartment(Lockable storage) Saturday. I close the drain plug and cleaned up the mess Sunday. I believe the manual recommends that drain be closed when the boat is in the water. It rained here Monday night. I haven't been up to the boat since to see how things worked out. I will be heading to it after work today. I'll post my findings tomorrow.

Check out these videos:

Out On The Reef has some excellent videos on this boat. He does a great job explaining the root cause of issues. He has made some really cool mods to the boat also.

Well leaving the plug in didn't work out so well. The good new is that this is 3 inches of rain water and not lake water. It's rain water. I really like this boat. Love the space in the helm and all the cabinets. But I really think this board could use a section dedicated to leaky Yamahas(Solution based). I bout my boat 2hrs away from my home. The nearest dealer is 1hr. So I'm going to try to figure this out based on research.

I think my cooler plug is out so rain water may have come in through there. I'll need to pull the boat for 10hr servicing in 2 or 3 weeks. At that time I will go into the lockable compartment (helm) with food, light and a gopro. My daughter will go section by section with the hose and we'll test for water. Should make a fun Youtube video.

Like most boats, I think the real solution is a mid-ship bilge pump. I've never seen one in smaller boats. But I think one would solve many problems with these boats.

One question - Has covering these boats solved water problems? I have the helm cover on order from JetBoatPilot.

I'm not familiar with the 2021 19's but, the fish locker is designed to drain into the head compartment? That seems really odd.
Here's a link to my old YouTube video showing where my big leaks were coming from. Fixing those and the old anchor locker drain issue solved the majority of my problems. I can use the boat and leave it in the water for days on end when on vacation and have a dry changing room. But one little rainstorm and I still get a little water in there but hey, it's a boat.

FWIW - I leave all internal drain plugs in at all times except when I may be flushing the bilge out with some strong bleach water after returning back to Colorado from out of state. They're extremely invasive species cautious out here.

Good luck and have fun!

Pretty sure the fish box drain should go overboard….

That was interesting shot of the water draining on top of your trolling motor batteries…. I ad a similar situation idiscovered recently, mine was coming from the 5 gallon bucket locker hatch drain. My deck drain was leaking like yours and a while back I pulled it and sealed it.

The pass through drain from the fish locker does drain off the side of the boat, I plug the drain with a rubber stopper so I can fill it with drinks for the weekend, it makes an excellent cooler. When plugged water leaked past the pass through fitting in the fish locker and by design, into the console compartment. Ive already fixed the leak but the water wont drain out of the compartment. My guess is when they bonded the sub floor and fuel cell compartment to the hull the drain channel got blocked with sealant.
Dealer can fix this one under warranty. Just wondered if it happened to anyone else.

Okay now I understand! Sorry to hear about the head drain problem, hopefully the dealer can handle it quickly!

There is an ultimate leak finder thread linked in the FAQ. Please read that and post your findings to that thread and @ me . I will then update that thread with your findings.

Those locker drain plugs don't seal well at all. They are designed to compartmentalize your boat and slow down catastrophic flooding. You could probably remove them and seal them better and add some thread lock plumbing tape, if you seek water tight drains.

The Yamaha cover definitely reduces rain water ingress. But you need to reseal it after year 2 to keep that performance up.
