No if it's on the internet it must be true and the jerks on there are just blocked immediately . I have children that are in their late 30s and early 40's so I just laugh at the stupid people on there then block them so they don't waste my time.
I was super annoyed at that. I even posted a link to the manual and page number (I should really stop helping these people), dude’s wife got mad at me eventually for agreeing with you and finally deleted the whole thread.
This was the same guy who bought the boat then asked everyone if it’s reliable and if he should anticipate problems.

*edit* I just googled so I could learn something......"unfree peasants" are called serfs. That's me, lower than a normal peasant in my little non supercharged 19ft boat....I do have a factory tower though, that's gotta buy me some street cred right?

Ha, you had to see that douche's comment. Paraphrasing, but something along the lines of 'you couldn't even afford the down payment on my boat with that little thing you're driving around'.

Speaking of which. We're fighting the battle of our current friend set having "not left high school yet"......in our 40's (which is what this dude sounds like). They're great people, very caring, respectable, and generally nice to be around. But there is this feeling of "Really? Don't you aspire to be more than this" in terms of general world view, logic based information processing, and reaction to current events. Just smacks of the attitude you get from a naive short sighted highschool kid that doesn't know any better. Doesn't mean wrong, but just doesn't get the bigger picture. And it's not that we're in some sort of glass house to be throwing stones, just feels like we're ready to move ahead at some level, and they're OK standing still. Super hard to articulate.
IMO, Facebook is just a hot mess of that same attitude. I've just outgrown it in general, and have more fulfilling things to do with my leisure minutes.
So I was annoyed that the kids where on their phones and I was out working on setting up the pool, so I open the door and asked them could they come and help, and get off their phones and "Facebook!!!" They looked at me with a confused look on their faces and said "Facebook is for old people, we don't use it ever and neither does anyone our age"! "Get with the times, its Snapchat or Instagram, geez......"

I did love a tweet I saw the other day about how our parents always told us "be afraid of everything you read on the internet", and now are sending us links to clearly fabricated deep-fakes posted to Facebook about Bill Gates chipping people, or other such shenaniganry. Like........WTF?!?!.........How did the skepticism over all things internet go away in less than 20 years? It's a complete cultural shift in an absurdly short amount of time.

And I will admit that I spend 97% of my time here on the forum, not moderating our FB group.....it really serves as a way to prod people to come here. Everyone on FB is a keyboard warrior that seems to have forgotten any concepts of politeness, decorum, empathy etc.
A recent post on a group I'm in that is a boating group - not a political one:
Please stop reporting shit to me that hurts your liberal snowflake feelings. I don’t give a shit. I’m not deleting it. This is not a “socialist friendly, politically correct” page. If you’re feelings are hurt and you’re offended because you’re socialist agenda is not supported here, move the fuck on. The page is about boating to Bimini, but sometimes shit will bleed over. It is what it is. Get over it.
This is precisely why we don't want politics on the forum. The above attitude is not the community we are trying to build.
