Need a new fuel tank!

Where is the crack" is it on a top flat surface? I didn't want to go back 10 pages to look.

Oh wow....that is sad.:(

I'd give you mine, but it's full.

At this stage, I would repair it and pressure test it. I'll bet a dollar a repair would hold up just fine.
Otherwise, have an aluminum tank made.

Sorry about the bad news, hope it all works out.

I didn't either,but I did and there are pictures....a small hole, not a crack.
I definitely think it's repairable.

Bottom. It's a hole rubbed through the bottom from the fuel sender unit

ok so you have access to the area by way of the removal of the fuel sender unit, you make a stainless plate about twice the size of the area of the damage you make a corresponding plate with matching screw holes. one plate goes on the bottom exterior with a very good gasket and the other goes inside where it reinforces the area again, using counter sunk 6mm stainless bolts from the outside with marine 5200 on them for a good seal and nylock nuts on the inside you build a patch then get the correct sending unit or build a !/4 in thick collar for the one you have to keep it off the bottom .

better yet you tell me the size of the part you need and I can make you one and weld in the bolts so they can't leak, And I will do it just for grins.

Hmmmm.....Jeff might have found a new business! Cobra Jet Tanks!!

It's so small, a bolt and washers is all it would take if you didn't want to try welding or an adhesive/sealant.

well the size of the opening for the fuel sender is the only restriction, sounds like a simple way to fix it, after all it's the way they put in the fuel sender if you think about it.

Going with @Cobra Jet Steering LLC 's idea... But knowing how small the hole is, how about this:

Just put a nut and bolt with gasoline-compliant washers on both sides. Drill the hole through the rest of the way, put in the nut/bolt and 2 washers. Tighten and test.

what a bummer @MutherTucker. You do have several options though. Repair it for now, then look for a used on if you're not comfortable with a repaired tank. They're has to be a salvaged boat out there with a usable tank.

Here's the photos again. tiny hole.jpg [/ATTACH] whole tank with hole.jpg

I appreciate all of the suggestions and the offer from @Cobra Jet Steering LLC, that means so much to me. Unfortunately, I don't have the confidence to fix this like Macgyver.

I think my next move is to retrieve the tank from my "guy" and measure it. I will contact Moeller again to see what my options and expected lead time are on a comparable or custom tank from them. In the meantime I will gather more information from the marina about their poly welding experience and technique as well as the issue of retrieving the $643 I spent on a tank that was ordered incorrectly. I will keep you posted.

Why am I not on the water??? Why is there a box of Sea Dek staring at me right now???

Renee is sad.:(

@MutherTucker whats the correct model #? Do you have a pic of the stamp on the tank? I'm sure there's somebody on JB.N that has the luck or ability to run into one if we know exactly what we're looking for.

Keep your chin up @MutherTucker. I'm sure this will all get sorted out one way or another.

Sending you positive thoughts!!

I would also cast your net wider than this forum to find answers. You might get some clues as to how and where to fix it from sites like offroading forums, etc. Someone around you can fix that. You just have to find out who that is.

@itsdgm here's a photo of the tag. FT5309 is the tank model number. tank tag.jpg
