The tower has been an issue since day one. In addition to having issues with the knobs, the biggest headache is that the starboard side of the tower doesn't meet the base. It's off by about .625". A great deal of effort needs to be applied in order to secure it with the knob.

It has been in the shop 4 times this year alone. They have tried to align it, which made it worse. A Yamaha Rep has looked at it twice. I'm guessing a defective tower which should be replaced. They had to pull the tower speaker and courtesy light wires as well as the mid cabin speakers.
Hopefully Yamaha has an answer on Monday.

5/8" is noticeable, but I dunno what the issues have been. Do you have a link, or pics? I know swatski had an issue many moons ago, but I haven't heard anything else since then, from anyone else.

This may not show up well, but a 2 am conversation about blowing out the ass end of the launch, as well as power loading and waking up half the neighbors isn't really conducive to pics of the jackassery.

Apparently, you're only allowed out after dark, and bow fishing only, if you have the Billy Ray Cyrus P3n!$ Enhancer 3000

I watched Shawshank for the first time, at 45, a few weeks ago.

Hate to admit it, but I don't see the hype.

For those guessing, the picture was the DreamWorks opening sequence before "The Wild Robot".

Agreed. Need some pics of the issue. This is one of the first tower issues I've read of since swatskis collapse on the way to bimini years ago.

Mine has always needed a "nudge" to get the second knob aligned. Tower moves around quite a bit before being screwed down. Yamaha doesn't use the thickest wall tubing, and the forward spent geometry isn't the strongest laterally, by design. So I would expect some movement and misalignment.

Not to make excuses for Yamaha, but a weldment of this size will have a natural tolerance in the 1/4in to 3/8in, so 5/8in is high, but not absurdly so.

Hope @kgower gets the support they need from Yamaha.

This was in the prep lane before our first launch. It happened again about 3 weeks later. We have to lower the tower to fit in the storage unit. and we couldn't lower it with the stud in the way. We were able to remove it with vice grips.
My theory is that that due the gap and the upward pressure when upright, the tower rubs 3-4 threads off the knobs. Fortunately, there have been bene no serious issues. I do find it curious that the replacement tower knobs have been of different lengths. I may eventually just replace them with something from McMaster Carr.
It hasn't kept us from enjoying the boat, it just makes set and tear down a little frustrating.

Although a little delayed, Yamaha seems to be addressing it. This will be a telling week. Our storage unit is on marina property, which is dealer connected, which is convenient for service because they just run up with their tractor and pull to the shop. The reason they put it back in the unit for me is because I wanted to wire in the RGB lights to the Rev 6's in installed about a month ago. I didn't know that the boat was still a work in progress. The mid cabin speakers are out for access. I had taken the tower speakers off to make it easier for the tech. The obviously had to pull (hopefully not cut) the tower speaker wire through as well as the courtesy light connection in order to remove the tower. The side panel are on the deck in the bow, screws and bolt in various cup holders. I decided that pulling wire ex cetera was going to be problematic. In the end all I accomplished was the placement of the fuse box and RGB controller on the opposite wall of the battery switch.
