Search this forum broken after update.

@JetBoat195G and I have both confirmed the search function isn't working correctly. It appears the general search everywhere is ok, but "search this forum" doesn't work. I know we use this feature quite a bit when trying to find Scarab specific fault codes and such. Tagging both of you but I believe Bruce was doing the actual upgrade of the forum. We presume this became an issue after since it's worked before that.

FYI - Since the upgrade I’ve been having problems finding posts that I want to update.

FYI - Since the upgrade I’ve been having problems finding posts that I want to update.

Our forum is large enough that rebuilding the search engine is quite intensive. The initial attempts to rebuild the search index have crashed. I am going to try a rebuild tonight but I may have to shut the forum down some night to accomplish a complete rebuild.

I just quickly found and updated a post that I could not since the upgrade. So far, so good.

I ran the same specific searches again that I mentioned in my private message to you, title specific thread and my user name. The results did show those threads, among the numerous results the title specific thread had bold letters, but, the title specific thread was either several results down or on other pages.

I also ran several other searches for specific titled threads from some other members and those yielded specific results at the top of the page.

Results also included private messages about related subjects in the search.

So a definite improvement over where it was!

@Bruce Much better. I think better than before the upgrade. Had issues finding some of my threads before. My experience similar to @FSH 210 Sport .

@Bruce thanks seems inadequate as I’m sure you put a lot more effort into making things right than I put into my searches but thanks for continuing to make this IMHO the best forum of its kind on the internet.

Please keep posting any issues you see. I fixed the ridiculous number of "similar threads" the upgrade injected into the new posts page. Turns out there are now two ways to get the same results and both were turned on, one set to 20 and another set to 5.
