Awesomeness! Before you finished your post i was already thinking that she's a pretty girl with a good head on her shoulders! I am sure the upbringing had a little to do with it! I can only hope and pray the same of my daughter but she's only 5 yet and has her mom's sass, lol!smart as any 5 year old i have met yet though especially street smarts. She is the leader of the pack here even with her older brother of 7!It was a big weekend at my house. Eldest Daugher (a.k.a. "Thing One") is now an Adult in the Catholic Church.
Yup. Katie was confirmed Friday night. The service lasted 2 1/2 hours. The "long slog" was the fact that the Archbishop spent several un-rushed minutes with each of the 40 candidates. In spite of what it did to the length of the service, I appreciate it. He's a real down-to-earth guy and related really well to the kids. Hopefully they carry the Light of Christ that he showed them forward with them in life.
Saturday was Katie's Prom. At her school, you attend "your" prom during your Junior Year. Tell me I'm not in trouble.
Luckily, the boy she asked to prom is a younger friend and not a love interest. The kid is a Sophomore but should actually be in 8th grade. He's super-advanced academically.
Photos were funny as heck because he was afraid to touch her. I said "Normally, I wouldn't encourage you but you can at least put your arm around her for pictures."
So I didn't feel like I had a whole lot to worry about. (They went with 2 other couples. The pictures were taken at one of the girl's homes. It was funny because her ex-military Dad made sure to leave his M&P and box of ammo out where his daughter's boyfriend would be sure to see it.)
She had a great time and was home by midnight. This one has a good head on her shoulders, I just hope she keeps it.
Yep. Right there with you on this one too. My daughter and her crew are trying to plan something. i just gotta trust they'll do right! I don't even wanna say what senior week was like for me at Myrtle Beach!!!Ha, yes - prom is becoming more of an event with each year/generation. I think they have the categories right but the split is probably different. Girls dresses, boy tux, prom ticket ($125/person at our school), flowers, hair, etc will definitely approach $750-$1K.
What's better is the kids have what they call senior week where they all rent beach houses in Ocean City Maryland. $Thousands but fortunately split between 8+ guys/girls. Not sure you can put a price on that though - one week with your buddies before you head off to college. Priceless as long as everyone has a good head on their shoulders.
Congratulations on your anniversary... with that said..HOLLY HELL$$$My wife and I celebrated out 17th Wedding Anniversary this past weekend. We celebrated by having dinner at a high end restaurant. I've eaten here once before, the most expensive steak I've ever had, I estimate that I got 4 bites an ounce at $10 per bite. I won't say never again but it could be another 17 years before I go back there.
