My 16 year old trailering the boat after his first boat run without me, he took his friends out for the last run of this season. Wow, when I started boating here with him annually he was two years old. Now he doesn’t need me to boat. I’m feeling very proud and old right now. View attachment 103265
Went down to the Marina yesterday afternooon to work on the boat. Wanted to cut out the old equipment mounting holes/panel and start mounting the new one. It made my wife nervous that I was using a saw around the dc wiring. She took a quick video, for proof, in case I screwed up.
This is the panel just sitting in its place. Nothing is screwed down yet. Ya, I know the VHF is not straight, will adjust the cutout before I screw it down. I am hoping the new black cherry panel will darken to match the bk. cherry trim around the dc panel that has been there for 4 months. The black cherry timbers in my house are darker than both panels. Time will tell. If we dont like the color, I will do it over. I am pretty close to a guy with a sawmill, and a lot of dry cherry in his barn. Still a few more things to mount on there, like the remote VHF speaker, the 12v socket/outlet for the USB plugs for our devices. As I said above...neither panel is aligned yet. At least the AC panel is not at my knees anymore and it matches the DC panel
We have been cleaning out 28+ years of accumulated stuff from the 3-bay garage, so we can put at least one car in there this winter. We have been finding a lot of pictures and triggering old memories. Found this 37 year old newspaper article from 1982. I was doing a lot of diving in these early years of my life.
The arrows pointing to a guy in the two pages below are pointing at me. Discussing notes with my partner Jan and holding the Zodiak at the dock, red shirt.

Thank you, those are PONs, Polish Lowland Sheepdogs (Polski Owczarek Nizinny). They are great dogs but not for first time owners necessarily, if you know what I mean. They like to be the boss, lol.
We went on a different boat last night. Spirit of Ethan Allen – Come Cruise With Us! . She got a 1/2 price deal for tickets thru Jumponit Great night to kick back, have a few beers, let somebody else drive and watch the sun set behind the Adirondacks. A few pictures from the sky deck of the Burlington Waterfront as we departed.
The atmospheric conditions sucked for any picture worthy sunset shots, no clouds. But I took this anyway.
What I liked seeing was The Inn at Shelburne Farms from the water. We had our rehearsal dinner there 28 years ago. And go there occasionally to celebrate our anniversary. Stay at Shelburne Farms
Appologies for the fuzzy pic. It looked good at the time...after a few beers.
Just a bumper sticker and sign I’ve never seen before and my annual luxury tax bill for the priviledge of owning a boat and storing it on the side of my house. I’m always surprised by how little of the revenue goes toward water related activities.
Finally made it to the condo after lots of work lol. Pulled into the slip only to realize it’s too small for my boat and scuffed the bow against the coping a little. No real damage other than hurt pride and a few character marks. Oh well it’s gonna happen. Anyways glad to be here and we have quite the view for the weekend!
