The wife character planted some last year, but thus far, we don't have any signs of life. I'm not sure if she followed my directions, and this was her baby to deal with, but they're plants, we can always try again.

Isnt it still snowing over that way? Don’t give up on the first year planting yet. They will be few and far between the first year and a bit later, but will fill in over time. This planting is about 6 years old. Will be harvesting for about 8 weeks.

Snow is much further north, but we did get enough to stick to the ground 3-4 weeks ago. I know it'll take 3+ years to really get some production. I just had her mulch the bed about 2 weeks ago, so you're probably right, too early for any signs of life just yet.

Any guesses as to what this thing is/what it is used for?

Without being able to see the lower part better I’d guess it to be a pile driver. If it is you will know it as soon as it goes into use.

I had no idea that asparagus was such a long time in coming veggie.

Looks like a well drilling rig.
That is what I thought as well. As it turns out that machine will be used to pump concrete up to 100 feet under an existing levy to make it stronger.

In this case the levy is next to the Westin hotel on the Sacramento River. Once the work is completed the Hotel will be able to open the dock the previous owner put in place about 15 years ago. The back story being the previous owner didn’t get the proper permits for the dock which is at least 150 feet long and has shore power as well as at least two stair cases and elevators so they were only allowed to stay open for about two weeks. The pics don’t do it justice.
Currently as the bar tender at Scott’s seafood restaurant put it, “the birds love it.”

I’m looking forward to staying there once the dock opens. Rates vary by season but currently it’s $250 to $400 per night, river side rooms are $50 more than street side rooms. 78945C1E-1079-4EAF-99B3-8D0F123E0B7C.pngCE597976-838C-45B3-8E1B-4CE0C58477DD.png042CB9BB-22C0-4C57-A0B6-2E30A17AD79B.png80826827-CFAC-4AB8-9FFC-72C99CF62D95.png

The sap truck is hard on the road that time of year. Wife will be happy…

Not as fun without this guy around.

Downloaded the “What The Forecast” weather app for my phone - it swears out loud.

You can choose the profanity level - I’m at the max setting.

My wife's friend has had that installed for a few years now, it's hilarious some of the screen shots she'd send us in the middle of our winters. A lot of stuff about witches tits, nipples cutting glass, etc!
