So my shower kicks on for one second and then does not work. Last year it was intermittent and worked sometimes. Now it only works for the one second.

I charged the batteries and tried with the boat running to have no change.

I checked for 12 volts when I turn the shower on, directly to the plug. It will provide a consistent 12v not plugged in. So while I have the 12 volts I plug the motor in and then it stops. Take the connector apart and now it does not show voltage unless I turn it off and turn it back on.

I tried wiring directly to a battery and it worked perfectly.

SOOO this tells me that I have a wiring problem.. Which is scary and seems like there is not going to be an easy answer. I don't think there is circuit breakers or a fuse for this shower anywhere. I have a feeling that a lot of these accessories plug into a "Control Switch" box right near the shower. Its a sealed unit and I don't know if I should take it apart or waste the $500 to replace it...

HELP

These 2 things tell me that you have a circuit breaker or safety devise somewhere in the wiring and that your pump motor is drawing too high of amperage.

Maybe a relay problem?

You need the single line wiring diagram to see exactly how it is controlled, what feeds it and whether or not there is a self resetting breaker.

If you have not already, check all of the wiring connectors to make sure one is not loose or is corroded.

My 2008 factory shower has an inline fuse in the battery compartment. That doesn’t explain your issues but you probably do have an inline fuse.

Thanks guys.

I did some more testing and studying of my service manual.

Basically the wires go into the control switch. I don't think there is relays, fuses, or switches.

Honestly it looks like it all controlled by the Connext system which is kind of scary.

Is the control switch in/on the connext screen ?

You can see the shower here. It simply goes directly to this switch control which I think is run off the connext. Service manual doesn’t go into enough detail.

okay thanks for the pics! Where is the switch you push to turn on the shower? Is a separate rocker switch, or do you use the touch screen?

The black box in your pics looks like a relay panel of sorts. See the R1 just above SPU2? I wonder if that is the relay that feeds power to the shower? Without waiting for your answer, I’d locate that relay, pull it and see if you get no action at all from the shower. Then plug it back in and see if you get the short run of the shower pump.

If the shower is controlled from the touch screen, it has to have a relay, a touch screen switch cannot handle that much current.

Most all motor control control problems are associated with relays.

Edit: I think that relay may be inside that black box... the tabs on the relay could be corroded.

Great ideas. Unfortunately R1 is a horn relay 🤦‍♂️ Shower is turned on from
The connext display at the dash. So I’m assuming spu2, the switch controller is a relay system that I’m and no one seems familiar with ?

Alright.... that means the relay is in that black box. You might try opening that black box... make sure there is no battery voltage present when you open it. I’d disconnect the negative terminals of the batteries before opening it.

Since you have the shop manual, is there a better single line drawing that shows more detail of the circuitry into and out of that box?

No I wish. Activia makes connext so I’m pretty sure it’s part of the connext unit. I have a call into them and Yamaha. I was hoping someone who has taken that box apart would chime in before I do. It seems pretty sealed and like something you shouldn’t open up. I’ll also wait to hear what they say. Before I do. Maybe go over wires make sure nothings pinched. Reset all my grounds.
I even ran a ground directly from the battery to that switch.

Right on.....

Based on the fact the shower pump runs fine when you wire it direct, my best guess is that the relay associated with the shower pump has a coil that is going bad. Second best guess is that switch in the connext screen is opening. Speaking of which, when you turn the shower on via the connext screen, and the shower runs for a second, does the switch on the connext screen show that it is still on or does it turn itself off?

Last guess is that under the hump of that black box there are a few relays, one of which is the relay for your shower.

So when I turn it on via the screeen it shows it’s on and functions. After the pressure builds and puts load on the amps it drops all voltage but still shows it’s on. Push the button off and turn back on will re turn on and then trigger off..

I wonder if I can figure out how many amps trips it

The pump has a pressure switch on it that shuts it off after reaching the set pressure...then cycles on after the pressure drops...have you tried leaving the shower head on and then turning the pump on? I still think it is a relay problem, not a loading problem but I’ve been wrong before.

Yes when I leave the head off it will do two different things. Sometimes it will start to pump and then just shut off. Other times it will just pump until I put my finger over it to build the pressure then shut off. I noticed on the Connext screen the shower icon will also be blue when its working, and turn to red when it trips itself.
