Where do you park now?
Truck and SUV will still fit with no issue! But honestly… working from home… we never really care if the cars are outside or not! My wife’s only input was we still need to put them in there when we need too! Check!

The thing with jibing is that you are in following seas with the wind astern. It is really hard to recover if you become overpowered the boat will heal and broach the boat over. While tacking the wind is mainly from the bow, point of sail being close haul or close reach. If you get overpowered then, inclinometer +20° heal, you can let out the mainsheet to flatten out the boat. You can't do that on a down wind run, thats why jibbing can be more dangerous than tacking. Another factor is the angle of the boom. On an upwind close haul direction the boom is close to centered in the cockpit and will not swing from side to side as much on a tack however on a jibe the boom is much further to one side of the boat and if not controlled during a jibe it will swing out of control to the other side. Hopefully everybody is paying attention and ducks. Communication is key.
Heaving to is good if you want to have a lazy lunch.
What is your opinion of a furling main sail?

I don't care much for them. They can get jambed inside the mast, if you don’t keep tension on the main outhaul while furling in. I have witnessed it more than once. My main is a Dutchman. Dutchman Sail Flaking System - Dutchmar Being in my early 60's, raising our main can be a task. I used to go forward to the mast and hand hank the main halyard, but now I work smarter not harder and it is a full battened main with two reefing points, oh and it is a tall rig. I use a Harken winch drill bit and my dewalt drill to raise the main now. I made my own electric winch. It has been a game changer. It does the job fast, with no break out in sweat.

The jambing happens more on older setups. The newer ones with electric furlers are less likely to jamb. A better setup IMHO is an in boom main furling sail. It makes it much easier to have horizontal sail battens on a sail with a boom furler. In mast, there are either no battens or vertical battens which do little for the shape of the sail.

In the picture the main is raised with any extra main halyard coiled around the winch to keep it off the cockpit sole.

Yesterday was a day of repower. Bought new batteries for the Polaris Ranger and the Woodmizer sawmill. Needed to get to places quicker than walking around here. The sawmill to make some lumber to make repairs to buildings on the farm.

I also put the batteries for the boat on the charger to bring the voltage up to a full state of charge at rest.

Prepping the frame on our old lambing barn to receive a new cover to become a new garden space. I am up here on top of a 12’ ladder and I look down and my buddy, Ruffles, shows up.

Coffee by the fire as the rest of the family snoozes in the tent. First night both boys, the wife, the dog, and myself spent in a tent. All survived despite temps dropping into the high 40's.

Happy Sunday to all!

Here is why I love having a truck.

Went to my local Lowe's last night to pick up a small bag of twist on wire connectors, walked past the insulation area and found Owens Corning R38 insulation in stock. Stuff is pretty hard to find in stock at our local big box hardware stores (Home Depot and Lowe's). Last week, when I drafted the plans to insulate the storage room above the garage, shopping at the store on-line, showed it wouldn't be available until June. Needless to say, I filled up the truck with the pink stuff! :)

We took the bikes to the Burlington Bike Path again but this time we went South from the Marina. Saw this guy from the marina

First stop was https://www.foambrewers.com/ for refreshments. We sat out back with our bikes.

Then we peddled South along the water.

You can see the South end of the breakwater on the left and the blue roof of the USCG station at the marina where we parked.

You guys wearing coats and we have a heat index of 104F. Can I rent a bunk on the @zipper ranch from May to Oct??
Ya, we had a pretty stiff North wind. Got up into the mid 60’s today, started the morning around 40°s. Beautiful day though, she had fun. The lake temp is in the low 40's.
