This is one of the reasons we don't use our slip anymore. Tired of the fuel consumption, dirty boat and having to bust my arse when cleaning the hull.My favorite being - Clean your bottom! Many people have no idea that a dirty boat creates more drag - in my experience as much as 25% more fuel used or more. When my boat used to get dirty (before I bought a lift), it would go from a top speed of 48-50 - down to 35-37!!! That loss goes across the whole speed/rpm spectrum. So full throttle to go 35, or for example 3/4 throttle to go 24! It kills your wallet!
For the MR1 25-30mph range get's us the best fuel economy. They seem to do better on fuel than the newer engines. What have y'all found to be optimal RPMs / speed for fuel efficiency?
Boattest.com has the fuel usage charts for most Yamaha models that will show you the speed, RPM and fuel burn with optimal cruise speed. https://boattest.com/review/yamaha/3211_242-limited-sWhat have y'all found to be optimal RPMs / speed for fuel efficiency?
For my boat, I've found the sweet spot right at 5000-5200rpm for fuel efficiency over longer distances. I've observed 5100rpm at 27mph consuming 9.0gph for 3.0mpg. That's with 3 people, full fuel, 200lbs of gear, and bimini open in my 2020 212s with the 1.8L engines. Wind, current, water conditions, will all affect that of course.Boattest.com has the fuel usage charts for most Yamaha models that will show you the speed, RPM and fuel burn with optimal cruise speed.
Same here 25-28 seems to be the sweet spotYeah on mine we run around 25-27mph but mostly because it is a nice balance between comfort and speed. But no clue if it is the most efficient
