Better get out those snow chains for the tires.I know I’m used to winter weather but you would think the sky is falling the way this cold is freaking the south out

Just wait until you see how they drive in it. .05 inches of ice will put most of your new neighbors in the ditch if they try to leave their driveway.I know I’m used to winter weather but you would think the sky is falling the way this cold is freaking the south out

If it’s icy, pay special attention to others on the road, as many of them will not know how to drive on ice. Many years ago when I lived in Houston I spent the weekend at a buddy’s house in Austin. Normally a 3 hour drive on a Sunday afternoon. We had a storm with about 1/2 on ice on the Interstate. Some idiots were still driving 60 mph on the icy roads. I ended up getting a hotel room to get off the road from these idiots.I know I’m used to winter weather but you would think the sky is falling the way this cold is freaking the south out

Don’t miss it. I’m from Mentor Ohio in the heart of the snow belt. Best info I can give. Don’t be a guy who thinks his treads on the tires are “good enough”. Also, be a proactive driver but more less be a “reactive” driver. Anticipate the person in front of you isn’t pay attention and give yourself that distance to react. Stupidity runs ramped during the first major snow fall.Holy crap that's a lot of snow.
I'm in Silver Creek, NY this week. Drove up yesterday and had my first encounter with lake effect snow. Was running 70-75mph on I-90 right until the NY state line. Then about 10mi over the line, I dropped to 30mph, flashers on and full white out conditions. Was that way the remaining 15-ish miles into Silver Creek. Apparently this is just "Tuesday" to these folks up here. Seems absurd to me, but I'm sure I'll get used to it.
Like......How is this "normal". Clearly I have some adjusting to do.

Yea, looks like Mentor is right on I-90 just northeast of Cleveland. It was relatively easy passing through there, but man, just over the NY border all hell broke loose.Don’t miss it.
