Beginning to wonder if @zipper is farming more than blueberries! :winkingthumbsup":p:D

Funny, we grow more than just blueberries. LOL. I grow maple sap, timber and hay too. :winkingthumbsup" We also grow our own veggies and herbs, but you/most don't want to see that.

I feel the pain too! I thought a 22% mark up was insane..... 32% has that clobbered! Fortunately dealer stock is increasing and these are starting to inch down....and I'm not in a hurry. I'll buy the car cash today if they drop the Anal reaming! Any Kia dealers on the forum???

What dealer did you go to? Buddy of mine ordered a Kia and it was here in less than 6 weeks and he paid MSRP with no mark-up here in the triangle. I can check what dealer he went to. He did go to one and they tried to mark it up $2k and he said no thanks I'll go to another one, and make sure to never return.

The 6K was Fayetteville Kia. Its the only one I've gotten an official quote from so far. If you can get that dealers name I'd like it!

Hendrick in Cary off of 64. They do 0 markup on orders, not sure about on the lot if they have it.

Got some new wheels, temporarily sitting in out driveway:

As I posted earlier, our daughter had her 2014 Chevy Sonic totaled after a hit-and-run accident last week in the Baltimore area. She really is a kind-hearted kid. I brought her to our house for the week to de-stress after the accident. She found a 2022 Jeep Renegade Limited at a dealership 2 miles from our home and we brought it home last night. Got a great price on both the new Jeep and the insurance settlement on the old car. The older I get, the more I believe in Karma, including the good kind!

Some of you might remember pictures of the dinghy training we did with the dogs at home in the pool a while back.

Ya, a while back with our smaller West Marine and then the Zodiac.

Well yesterday afternoon we took them out on the Lake for their first ride in the Zodiac and over to a beach to swim and then back without a hitch.

A few shots of the ride and hanging out.

The flat floor boards I made for them and us were a huge success.

Checking out the surroundings.

Happy with her spot.

I remember being at a plant where they were installing a new robot. While initial testing was being done, it picked up a pallet and threw it over the safety gate. I think I have a healthy respect for those things.

From an email from Hendrick:

Effective March 1st* all ordered vehicles and inbound vehicles will have our Hendrick Signature Plus accessories package of tint, nitrogen, door edge guards, all weather mats and a 3yr subscription to Lojack ($2941).

This is a backdoor way of charging fees.

oh lame! He definitely didn't have that. He ordered pretty close to that time. Might be worth calling and seeing if that's negotiable. He had ordered one and it came in too soon, so he let it go, then immediately turned around and ordered another one. So maybe they waived that stuff? He definitely didn't have tint as he's literally OCD and was taking it to his tint guy to get it tinted. It didn't have it when I saw it either. Guy he used was named Mickey.

We add lots of crap like that at my dealer, but the reason its just a negotiation tactic to get you thinking you got a better deal without feeling like you really got screwed. Cost for the dealer on that 3 grand is probably close to 500 bucks.
"So how bout we give you the add ons for 800 instead of 3000, sound good?"

For $3k, I want my name on Kyle Larson’s car.

Most dealers around here have been doing that for years. They do "paint protection" "interior protection" and a few other BS items for 2-3K extra. If the dealer doesn't drop those costs at negotiation, I keep walking.

Had the local Nissan dealership tell me they put the "pulse" system on every new vehicle. Got to reading into it, and you have to splice into the existing brake wiring for it to work. It basically pulses the brake lights when you hit the brake pedal. Told them that cost them the deal right off the bat. In what world am I going to PAY someone $800 to splice into my BRAND NEW wiring harness for something like that.

They're claim was that it came with some supplemental insurance if you got rear ended, and was easily worth the money they were charging, then continued to act like it was a service to me and I should be paying more for it than they were asking.

I told them to take it off, or order me a truck without it. Said it was non-negotiable, so I said we're done and walked. What a piss poor way to lose a sale on a $60k truck.

Most sheeple just eat it and that is the entire reason those markups are there.

I used to pre-install car alarms at dealers like this. We’d hack up a brand new cars’ wiring harness with a dozen t-taps and they’d finance your $100 alarm for $20 a month for 5 years. It supposedly had some insurance too.

Most people wouldn’t buy them and we’d have to stay after hours to remove them when the finance guy finally failed to sell it at 11pm. Buyer gets to keep the t-taps and compromised harness either way.
