Indeed, he knows when to turn around. As the saying goes "Gentlemen do not sail the weather". But rascals do

as the resident 'sailor' (I jet in between), "Gentlemen do not sail TO weather." Basically, point upwind. And as a catamaran guy, this is doubly true (they point badly, compared to monohulls.)

By the way, I read this and could not help but think of the end of Animal House. "Did we give up when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?" "Germans??" "Ssshhhh, he's on a roll..."
