I've been asked to turn my Bimini trip rescue story into a keynote presentation at one of our company conferences. I am looking for Photos and videos from that trip....especially those showing boat damage, waves, mayhem LOL

@swatski any wide shots of your boat with the tower down (with you under it)?
@Drift Away a shot of your boat at bimini.....
Anyone have a photo of Barefoot Island? (the boat we rescued)
Photos of the boats taking big waves?

The more images...the more interesting the presentation will be.

Lots of parallels one can draw from this story to project planning, team building, risk analysis etc:
  • Planning is essential
  • Willingness to change plans and adapt is critical
  • Communications is critical! And CLEAR communications!
  • Rigid project planning can be a big problem
  • The more highly complex a solution, the harder it is to use when the pressure is on
  • Practice makes perfect - lack of it can be disastrous
  • Don't under estimate dependency analysis

Thanks in advance for anything you contribute!
Hopefully I can make it interesting and entertaining!

Other than the two shots of me standing in my boat (looking shell shocked, happy, and sad at the same time) - taken in the Bimini Sands upon arrival, with my tower down and broken windshield, I do not have any actual footage of the events... I might have some shots of my bruises, lolol.

I guess I wish I have had my camera ready when the tower fell in the middle of a storm, lolol. Seriously, I kind of wish I had a GoPro going or something, would have been quite a show, my kids screaming thinking I was dead when the tower just collapsed on me... and me trying to convince them otherwise while getting up from under the fallen bimini, lol. Good times!

But in all honesty, to me it’s not the sensational nature of these kinds of events that would be the take-home point. Rather, it’s the resilience, quiet and solemn, hard to show in pictures. I’m thinking of @Drift Away and his crew drifting for freaking hours - towards Greenland! - at 7mph in that little river called “Gulf Stream”, lol. To me that beats any heroics - just being able to stay calm and not panic.

Dropped anchor locker, caved windshield, collapsed tower, broken passenger chair, and ripped head compartment door... That was a fun ride!

@Julian in my group @Bill D was shooting with two gopros, I think. I'm pretty sure he posted links and some of the footage of his struggles before they turned around, somewhere.
