A beautiful Friday afternoon on Lake Champlain for a Lazy Sail. We have the Lake practically to ourselves. Sailing slow and flat, testing new reefing lines on the main. Still get 5kts SOG from 7.9kts apparent wind.

Just stumbled across this the other day. Any pics of yours in use?

I have two of them, I’m always adjusting the anchor line, and these make it a synch.
Use one on my shore spike and one on my bow anchor.

I was talking with a coworker when one of his friends who just moved from Sacramento to Miami sent him this pic of a used boat he just purchased with cash. I did some quick research and found that even used it sells for $700k or more. If the luxury tax applies to Floridians this guy can look forward to at least a $7k tax bill annually for the next few years, I can only imagine what it will cost to fill the fuel tank of this thing. Still I wish I had his problems.

As far as I know there is no reoccurring luxury tax in the Republican state of Florida :)

You would know if your state charges this tax because you (anyone who owns boats like ours) would have to pay it as well. I just paid my 1% (about $350 on a current assessed/estimated hull value of $35k) a few months ago. I also just paid $30 for one of my waverunner, ironic since the registration fees statement just came in and it isn$36 for two years for each of my water vehicles. It should be the same if I owned the yacht pictured. There may be an addition fee for keeping your boat in a slip. Definitely applies to planes as well.

Reading through some informational and am sharing this one. Another reason I own a jet boat and wish more boaters around me did.

Random thought: I think they could have summarized the strike number statement with 16 strikes per person average, maybe the author just wanted to use 160 because it is 10x larger or has a third digit.

I dont think they are saying it typically takes a tenth of a second. I think they are just saying it can travel from top to bottom quickly. They arent saying you'll only be hit for a tenth of a second.

Good - the truck is in the driveway
Bad - it won't start and didn't get to go to lake today

This was yesterday morning (Sunday). The view from the door of our hotel room door. It's the only building on the entire lake and there's only one marina. Broken Bow Lake in SE Oklahoma. It's a very deep and very clear lake. One of my favorite places!

@swatski , hopefully you have time to visit Huntington Beach (aka Surf City) as well.

I wish I had more time here. But I did get to walk tonight around the Dana Point - it is a pretty awesome place, with a different vibe, very cool.
