I have officially resigned my job and am heading towards retirement! I can probably be counted in the "great resignation".

So now I will be figuring out what to do with myself.....some ideas:

  1. Travel (plan to go to Scotland to visit my Aunt, and have a long list of places we want to go)
  2. Boating (may get my captains license)
  3. See if I can spruce up jetboaters.net a little more
  4. Volunteer at Habitat for humanity
  5. Drive for Uber (but ideally need an EV or at least a PHEV...eyeing the Ionic 5 Limited closely)
  6. Work on the "honey do" list
  7. Help people with their boats (may make a side business out of this for fun).

Last day of work is 10/7!!! Party planned for 10/8!

Is this a sudden decision (I note you were (are?) On vacation recently)? Or was it in the works for a while? Either way... congratulations ?!

congrats... Im not too far behind you I was retired once three months before Irma hit... then I got an offer I couldn't refuse...

Congratulations ! What an accomplishment!
Excited to see how it turns out for you

I tried that once a few decades ago and then I invented jet boat steering

Congrats! Enjoy it, sounds like some nice ideas to keep yourself occupied.

Good for you man! I think about it all the time. I just can’t seem to get past the gap between being insured and Medicare.

Side job as a boat repair guy is the route I’d consider first. My current mechanic just started doing it for money a few years ago. Now he charges $85 per hour plus gas and parts of course. If you want him to come with you to inspect a boat it’s a $1,000 flat including lodging for an overnight a trip to Scal, $500 for NCal where he lives. One of the perks is sometimes great deals on used boats.

Congratulations!! You are going to love being retired! A new chapter in your life…

Congratulations, hope to get there some day

Congrats... there is life after work. Traveling is awesome. In 11 days we leave for 3 weeks in Africa!

Congratulations! ????

Not silly at all! Start putting away dough now so you’ll have plenty in 41 years, BUT, live life along the way!

I’d like to add. A few years before I retired I chatted with an older lady who had retired from Nestle and she had these words of wisdom.

It is important that you retire to something not from something. When people retire from something, those are the ones you hear about who pass away not long after retiring.
