Shelbyville Illinois, July 31th to August 2nd 2015

I put this up on Instagram, but I wanted to thank Will here too. IMG_20150803_193922.jpg
Thanks @JetBoatPilot for all your donations to the gathering, especially the TVXV'S that I won. Took me all of 15 minutes to install before I headed to the lake this afternoon. I never felt like I needed them before, but after having them on I can see why so many people swear by them.

For those that may question or are concerned if this is a fun group let me tell you what happen as I was departing cove #5 for the later that night dinner: While idling out from the back of the cove an older gentleman in a Searay boat with 4 people on board was waving his hand to flag me down. He had lots of questions but wanted to know about the large gathering with all the boats similar in design. After explaining he stated "I have a yamaha jetski. Does that qualify me?" He also stated that he may join the forum just so he can join in on the tie up. If a total stranger that has no idea what it is about can be envious of the gathering, What does that tell you?

I started a Facebook Group called Shelbyville Jetboaters Gathering to easily share photos. The reason is unfortunately we are not all friends to be able to tag people. So please invite or join the page to see what shots everyone captured during the awesome event !

Has anyone seen the view count on this Topic?
Only ever surpassed by the Bimini thread, and that's just cuz they have more "big poster types" over there. I do love viewing everyone's pictures though, keep them coming!!!

So, a quick recap of my trip.
First, the bad:
Short drives made extremely long due to wife and kids.
Air broke in the camper and it was extremely hot in Cumberland, which was our first leg to the trip.
Blew a fuse in the boat and couldn't even BUY a new one at several marinas, had to hope that i could get one at a gas station and that it would cure the problem.
Family each taking turns at heat exhaustion.
TONS of debris at Cumberland and had to pull the pumps I think 9 time amongst 4 days.
Kids left tub running in camper when I went to fill water tank so I came back to water flooding out the back of the camper while they just sit there with feet in water eating oatmeal.
Got to Shelbyville and had to break my camper door to open it to the bathroom (FYI campsite bathrooms are horrid). Took 3 hours to get it all apart.
Blew a tire when my wife went to get the trailer.
Get home.... Dryer is broke.

The GOOD:
Family, friends, drinks and food!!!!
My kids actually got some enjoyment in tubing, which means we can start the watersports phase of life!!! They have been deathly scared up until this trip, so this was really fun for us.
We also won that tablet, which is getting used well!
Now... tomorrow we need to start downloading some serious photos!

Someone mentioned having booked for next year????? Has a date been set already????

If dates are being planned, I hope it's not July 29, 30, 31. Family reunion that weekend in Paris...

Illinois. It's only an hour away from Shelbyville, so I'll make sure I get over there for at least one day, but if we made it the weekend before or after, I'd be glad to burn a bunch of vacation days and spend six or seven days in Shelbyville!

image.jpg This photo caught my eye...

...what is that orange contraption?
Yes, there is an orange contraption.

I don't see an orange contraption.

That said, for about 20 seconds I was wondering why in the hell you had your tower racks turned the wrong way on that wakesurf board.

The Orange thingy is a crazy underwater scooter. Those things looked pretty awesome!

Could be august 6-7. Don't pressure the man, he's been a little busy!

Yes, @Julian. The weekend dates are July 29 - July 31, 2016. 10 families has already booked rooms for next year before leaving on Sunday. They forced my hand. I have always gone down on the Wednesday of gathering week, but am thinking of going down Monday this year. The time is simply too short. @RiverRat , you'll have to move some reunion activities to Lake Shelbyville!

You wouldn't believe how busy I am not being back to work. This is crazy! I miss 3 work days and the place goes nuts.

Nevermind!!

Now all I need are Caitlin's school calendar and my office's User conference dates. The problem we have is that she is in Year round school and usually isn't out until the first week of August, and then my companies conference is normally the end of August, but was early this year. I fear the last week of July will be Caitlin's 3rd week of 6th grade at a new school....We'll see.
