Raleigh/Durham - Falls Lake Gathering (July 22nd 2017) Aug 25 2018

I'm a definite now.

If you need a hand, @Julian , just let me know. I'd be happy to assist Saturday morning.
I may take you up on that offer! This work week doesn't seem to be lightening up and letting me get out in the evening early enough. I'll keep you posted...thanks!!

K guys, I'm 50/50 right now..... Assuming I make it, what's the best boat ramp to use? I live in west Cary near 540 so that's the direction I'll be coming from. The Highway 50 ramp might be the most convenient. Is there good parking there? Bad lines? Appreciate any info you can share.

Highway 50 is a great ramp. We use it all the time and hardly ever a line. Parking is plentiful. Just be out by dusk as they lock the gates. And quick ride over to the meet up. I think its $6 this year for parking.

I've not used the Highway 50 ramp, but have passed it often. It is usually pretty quiet. Rolling View State Park is also always quiet (quieter than Highway 50...because it is a little harder to get to) and has more ramps 4 vs 2).

Hwy 50 has 6 total ramps. 2 sets of 2 with docks in between and 2 for those lucky enough to launch without needing a dock.

Whoops....was thinking of the Holly Point Ramp....

Then my comment is: Rolling view is WAY quieter than Highway 50....because it is more remote.....last time I used Rolling View there were 2 trailers in the parking lot....that is quiet. If you look at the google maps photos...there are only two there then as well! LOL

@Julian Are there any private campgrounds on the lake? All I'm seeing on google maps is state park run ones.

It is an Army Corp lake, so no private property that I am aware of at all.
ahhh ok thanks. I may have to re-think this then, I'm not too keen on the no alcohol and no firearms policy.

@96Pirate is the Hwy 50 ramp the ramp I saw you at after this event last year? If so it was nice no issues with parking and things moved pretty quickly there.

A campground that doesn't allow alcohol say it isn't so that must be the slowest campground in the world. I'm sure as long as you are not running around doing body shots off your wife and having strippers hang upside down from your tent poles waving guns I bet you can get away with both as long as you are discreet.

Which both??? The body shots and strippers or the booze and guns?

If you decide to go with all let me know and I may change my plans for the weekend and join you in camping till we get kicked out.

Yes it was @robert843 The most i have ever had to wait was like 15 mins and that was with someone who had no idea how to back in and was taking up the entire circle. Trying to be nice here but i was fuming that day. And of course that tend to wipe down there boat while still on the ramp. Oh jeez, now i have started

There is private property close but not directly on the lake and no private rentals. But i know people that park skis and walk to their houses.

As far as law enforcement goes. They are there but i have no idea where most of the time. I have been boating there for 5 years about 15 visits per year and have maybe seen them 10-15 times total, if that. Two weeks ago i think i saw them 3 or 4 times but most visits i dont see them at all. Have no idea about the campgrounds though. Now that i said that they will be out on Sat.

They last few times I saw them they were looking for fishing boats. I know this is a dumb question but... Is falls really no alcohol? I don't drink but we have friends coming out with us this weekend who do... Or is it just the camouflage grounds?
